Weird CVT fluid temp readings

Hey all!

I recently got a 2018 Nissan Altima and I'm very much enjoying the vehicle. I'm very familiar with CVT's and how to take care of them, but I ran into an interesting metric when doing a scan and looking at some live data on my vehicle, to decide whether or not I wanted to add a CVT cooler.

Where I live it is currently below 10° f and when I plugged in my scanner to read the transmission fluid temperature on my Altima, it read 260 degrees Fahrenheit while in park with no driving. That seems incredibly unreasonable and incorrect in my opinion. The car drives very smoothly and did not have any engine or transmission codes. It was just while looking at live data that I was getting temperatures from 260 to 280°. Does anyone know what could potentially cause these crazy readings? Could it just be something up with my scanner or is it something potentially wrong with the transmission fluid temperature sensor? Some other electronic component? On two other nissans my family has (2008 and 2013 Rogues), The transmission fluid temperature read perfectly And was hovering around 140 or 150 degrees at all times (although those have coolers installed).

Thanks!

If the scanner reads fine on other vehicles, odds are that either the temperature sending unit or the computer on the Altima is bad.
