Hyundais seem to be very reliable vehicles based on consumer reports and most people I know who drive them have very few problems with them. Of course they aren't Honda or Toyota, but they still seem like solid reliable vehicles. That being said, why do you dislike them so much?
Why are there more people defending Hyundai than any other brand?
As I see it, all of the "Hyundai Advocacy" is because: Hyundai-Kia quality is very inconsistent between their model line-up. This causes this 'debate' between people who had great experiences and people that their cars fell apart.

(It's how a 2021 Hyundai Tucson with a 2.0MPi mated to an A6 can probably go for ±150k miles without major issues, While the same car with a 1.6 T-GDI mated to a DCT is, probably, likely to fall apart much faster.)
Great point, @mmj.
We’ve been through this before numerous times, but here it is:

Consumer Reports puts out what they are paid to put out. Anecdotal information about Hyundai products are extremely inaccurate. Look at the actual evidence to see that they are poorly designed, poorly built and consistently unreliable vehicles. "seem to be reliable?", not based on reality.
There is so much about why Hyundai products are just garbage on this forum if you do a quick search. Incidents of them catching on fire, recalls on simple stuff that most manufacturers have been getting it right for so long now, engines going out, and so much more. And consumer reports; I would take everything from them with a whole spoon of salt!
Bucket O Salt.
Well I will comment on this from a former Kia owner which are basically the same powertrains as Hyundai.
I had my Forte with 85k miles, perfectly maintained. Quality oil every 3k and all manufacturer recommended maintenance. Threw a rod due to bad bearing literally a month after the warranty expired. Funny enough, it wasn't part of the recall even though this engine had the same problem as the ones recalled. Kia only recalled the engines on ones they got hit with a class action on, but there are several other engines not included that have the same GD problem and owners are out s car as a result. Sounds like even more late model ones have this problem too.
I will never buy a Kia or Hyundai again.
Don't blame you. I would be furious.
These cars are fine for the first 100k miles but after that, they’re on borrowed time. Yea sure they have a 100,000 mile warranty but guess what, they typically fall apart when they hit 100-something thousand miles right after the warranty is expired… I wouldn’t get a Hyundai if I were you unless you are the type of person who buys a new car every 5 years… probably more often than that.
They are junk that can catch on fire at any moment.
