| Answer to: Which car? | 18Relevance | 3 months ago | Justin Shepherd | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hyundai, Genesis and Kia are all produced by the Hyundai Motor Group conglomerate. Looking at the two cars, they're the same car. Hyundai puts in a more "premium" interior than Kia does. We have a whole section that's dedicated to Kia/ Hyundai products and why you should avoid them like the plague: The closest equivalent to the Hyundai Group conglomerate that I can think of was when Ford owned both Mercury and Lincoln. You could get the Ford Crown Victoria as a "base" car, the Mercury Grand Marque was the mid-tier option, then the Lincoln Tow ... | |||||

| February 25, 2025 - The 2021 recall involving Kia Soul and Kia Seltos vehicles with the 2.0L Nu engines has been extended up to 2023 vehicles (another 137,000 units). The piston rings were not heat treated properly. This leads to damage to the piston and cylinder, seized connecting rod bearing, and ultimately causing the block to become punctured, and oil leaking out onto hot exhaust components, and fire. Kia engine piston ring recall letters are expected to be mailed April 4, 2025. . Kia claimed years ago that the heat-treating process was corrected w ... | |||||
| why was this car sold 3 years after manufacture | 18Relevance | 2 years ago | KrisTTBoda | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| This is a car I sold in 2021, but this one thing still bugs me. I drove a Kia Picanto (european model) manufacfured September 2006. The car was sold new at the dealership in March 2009. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP, literally three years. Truth is, I had no idea the car was actually older. Here in Slovakia, the title only states the date of first registry. At the time, I didn't understand much about cars and didn't know VIN numbers did exist. I was 19 at the time and bought it used. I thought the car was actually a 2009 model. It was sold in March '09 with 8 ... | |||||

Last eek I had to replace he right from spring coil and strut. Upon having my mechanic do a compkete brake job noticed the spring was broken and cracked and told be to tow it to the Kia dealership cause I had bought theextended warrany for 5400 and it would cover the noe needed repair, So I towd the car to the dealership and as you can guess the repair was not cove ...

| ... kilometers, or if necessary, with increased noise, from under the valve cover. The valve adjustment procedure consists in replacing the tappets that are located between the valves and the camshafts. The process itself is not easy and expensive. The chain drive is very reliable if you keep an eye on the oil level. But the manufacturer recommends replacing the chain, tensioners and dampers after 180 thousand runs. This is usually added to the replacement of sprockets, which is generally expensive ... The big drawback of the almost all-aluminum Kia Rio 1.4 e ... | |||||

| I am on my third Kia/Hyundai. They are the same car internally. The Sorento has the third row of seats and is pretty roomy. I have the non turbo 2021 S trim and it has plenty of power. I am told that at high elevations such as Colorado you need the turbo version of the car. Just be for warned 10 years ago they had a 10 year warranty. Now it's 5. Every body raved about how reliable they were. That was because repairs were free and free repairs are soon forgotten. Now after 5 years the pain sets in. I had a 11 year old Santa Fe. The steering rack went bad for ... | |||||
| Should I keep my 2022 Kia Niro hybrid? | 15Relevance | 2 years ago | Yetti87 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty. Thank you for such an informative site and youtube channel. I wish I had seen your channel years ago. I bought my 2022 Kia Niro hybrid new and get about 50mpg. I have 98,000 miles on it. I have been very happy with my Niro and have kept up with regular oil changes and maintenance as recommended by my mechanic. I drive mostly highway miles too. Recently I took my Kia to into a dealership service center because I heard a loud whirring noise. They tell me the transmission needs to be replaced and thankfully a new transmission is covered since still ... | |||||
| Answer to: Any reason not to get a Kia EV? | 15Relevance | 2 years ago | Dad2LM2 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I'm afraid there is not a lot of good you can say about any of those, especially the Kia. Take a look in the search bar for previous discussions of the Kia EVs. And on top of all the past problems, now there's something else: battery replacement scandal. Multiple sources are reporting that Kia EV batteries are basically unreplaceable. If you damage one (such as by running over road debris), you have to replace the entire "battery assembly". Problem is, you can't get one, and if you do, it is $50,000. That's not a typo; it's the correct number of zeroes ... | |||||

| Answer to: Kia 2016 catalytic converter | 15Relevance | 2 years ago | Justin Shepherd | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| P0300 is a cylinder misfire, which would explain why it lacks power going uphill. That is separate from your catalytic converter, which would indicate exhaust catalyst inefficiency, P0420 is that code, and it's just a generic code that requires more analysis. You don't have that code. Have you changed your spark plugs? If your car consumes oil, it eventually fouls your spark plugs, causing misfires. There's a whole boatload of other potential causes as well. See our FAQ about engine misfires if you like. | |||||

| Hi, my mom’s car is a 2015 Kia Optima SX 2 liter turbo with 100,000 KM. The check engine light came on 1 week ago with an evap leak (fixed by changing gas cap) and another code (P0138) for O2 sensor circuit voltage high on b1s2. I erased the code to see if it would come back as everything was almost perfect in live-data and it rode fine but it came back yesterday, but this time in live-data, I had a short term fuel trim of -10% and you can feel it run a bit weird. I went to the dealership to replace the sensor but they are crazy expensive, 450$CA for a K ... | |||||

| In spite of how you feel about Kias, I decided the Kia Rio 5 S was what best suited my needs. The problem is, none of the dealers in Southern Nevada had any. I took it upon myself to try and contact nearly all 50 Kia dealers in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. Most wanted to communicate via online chat. The few who did answer the phone told me there was no one available in the Sales Department to talk to me at the moment, and someone would return my call, which, of course, they never did. Finally, I found a dealer in Texas, who had the ex ... | |||||

| Hello Scotty, I'm looking at some minivans as the family grows and am deciding between Toyota and Kia. The VCM on the Hondas has me worried so I am ruling them out since the only affordable ones are very high millage. My price range is only around 20K and we can stretch to 25K for the right vehicle. I see a Kia Sedona that is a 2020 with 51,000 miles for 25K. But I am only seeing mixed reviews about this engine and the long term reliability. Is it a good engine? Also, I have a 2013 Toyota Sienna in my price range but it has 93K miles and is 24K. Wit ... | |||||

| I don't recommend it. To me it sounds like too much for a Kia sedan, you should be able to get a Toyota Avalon for that. Another issue is the millage, 120,000 miles is close to the end of it's useful lifespan so avoid! Additional issues are related to Kia's use of GDi engines, the US market 3.3L doesn't hold up and doesn't feel right in that kind of car. But fuel economy is a big issue on both the 3.3 and the 3.5 as they're rated at 19 and 15 MPG city respectively. With a GDi engine, it's bound to have serious issues - avoid. | |||||

She got a brand new Sportage in February of 2020. Last month, while accelerating from a red light, the transmission started to jerk. Several days later, the car would not go forward, only the reverse gear remained functional. My coworker took it to a Kia dealer and the vehicle had its transmission replaced under warranty. THIS HAPPENED AT 44.xxx MILES !!!!! Even though the car was fully opera ...
