Kia Sedona 2020 51,000 miles, Should I buy it?

Hello Scotty,

I'm looking at some minivans as the family grows and am deciding between Toyota and Kia. The VCM on the Hondas has me worried so I am ruling them out since the only affordable ones are very high millage. My price range is only around 20K and we can stretch to 25K for the right vehicle. I see a Kia Sedona that is a 2020 with 51,000 miles for 25K. But I am only seeing mixed reviews about this engine and the long term reliability. Is it a good engine?

Also, I have a 2013 Toyota Sienna in my price range but it has 93K miles and is 24K. With the Toyota having double the millage and triple the age, which would be the better vehicle to get, the Kia or Toyota?

Thanks for taking the time to read this. I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Best,

Thanks for those links Chuck, I've seen a lot of things that say to avoid the 2015 and older Sedona for engine fires. Do you know if the newer models are also effected?

I didn't know about the soy wires at all.

Unfortunately Hyundai/Kia appears to have continued their race to the bottom in quality.

The newer Kia Sedona/Carnival models aren't going to be any better. Do not buy.

That sound pretty pricey but if it has the V6 it might turn out to be a good vehicle although they are gas guzzlers. I would be less thrilled if it has the 2.5L 4 cylinder and I would run away if their is any hint of a turbo. The Sedona is Kia's minivan offering. They don't sell a lot of them so there is not much of a track record to look at.
