| RE: Timing belt replacement and associated items. | 11Relevance | 4 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Gates and Continental are good brands for belts and hoses. Bando is the OEM for Toyota. Fel-Pro, SKF, National, and Timkin in general are good brands for seals. | |||||

| ... was in the parts department ordering parts for his shop. So, I had already decided to use the Aisin timing belt with water pump kit...found on Rock Auto at a good price, but they did not have Aisin power steering and AC/Alternator belts. Questions: (Sorry to group these questions, but they seemed interrelated to the changing of the timing belt and water pump.) 1. Is Gates or Bando an acceptable brand for the PS and AC/Alt belts? I do not see Aisin or Mitsuboshi available at Rock Auto. 2. What brand of camshaft and crankshaft seals would you recommend? I ... | |||||
| RE: 02 Camry Shaking after 70-85mph | 11Relevance | 4 years ago | Tachkata | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I had huge vibrations when driving over 95-100km/h, turned out all my Pirelli tires had a defect from the time they were bought. When they showed me how the treads, blocks and ribs were making mini-wiggling while spinning them on the machine, it was obvious that was the source of the issue. Now I'm with Continental and the vibrations stopped. | |||||

| I believe I need new tires for my 2016 Chevy equinox as I've seen cracking on the sidewalls of all four Michelin tires. I'm think of getting Continental tires for the rebates On them but I've always had luck with general tires. Or should I go with the standard Goodyear assurance tires. | |||||

| Tough ask. Most of what is in your price range (especially from Walmart or Amazon) is going to be from China or worse. We have had good success with Vredesteins on my daughters car; superb foul weather tire. They are a first rate European brand, comparable to Pirelli or Continental, but they are selling them at a discount through Tire Rack to build US market share. The model they have in your size (Pinza AT) is just above your price range, but probably worth it. But don’t just look at sale price, take into account lifetime ownership. Go to the best loca ... | |||||
| Answer to: What brand of tires should I get? | 11Relevance | 4 years ago | Dad2LM2 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I would agree with everything above. But although Michelin is pretty dependable across the lineup, a few models are inferior to the competition. By the way, you can look at specs on tire rack and see (for each size) where the tire is made. They carry most major brands. If you want an all-season tire for a 4Runner, the Michelin Defender LTX is the gold standard. The Continental Terraincontact HT is comparable and a few $ less, though comes in fewer sizes. I’d start with those and go from there. | |||||
| Answer to: What brand of tires should I get? | 11Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Pretty much any reputable brand: Continental (Germany) Toyo (Japan) Dunlop (Ireland) Falken (Japan) Hankook (Korea) GoodYear (USA) Pirelli (Italy) And many others… AVOID sketchy brands, things like Belshina or pretty much all of the Chinese ones… Although the Chinese are setting up local production of tires, and although they have bough some major tire makers like Kuhmo (popular OEM tire for good handling cars) their quality, from what I’ve been seeing, is still not good at all. It’s also important to check that you’re buying a reasonably fresh tire. | |||||

| ... the best-of-breed in the highway tires. In between, the Continental Terraincontact AT is a well-reviewed on-road focused AT. But if you drive on a lot of snow, or your budget is restricted, maybe none of those would be best. Tire Rack puts out some pretty good research that seems reasonably unbiased. For more detailed tire reviews that are very informative (albeit just on a few select tires) take a look at the Campus Automotive YouTube channel. As far as wheel size: It heavily depends on your intended use. If you do most driving on road, I’d probably s ... | |||||
