| Because it had a stable 12v current supplied. As Scotty mentioned, likely you have a battery or connection issue. You achieved a closed circuit with the battery charger but not with the jumper cables. You got a good connection with the charger, but a bad connection with jumper cables. That often happens when using jumper cables. Keep this simple.. achieve a stable 12v current to your ignition switch. Check your battery-- regardless of its age-- check the terminal connections, etc. You need 12v up & through that ignition switch first. Concentrate on fixing "no power" first, then you can fix the "no start". | |||||

| You can find detailed troubleshooting information for those codes in the repair manual linked below: (Those are CAN bus communication codes.) Who said that? However not every possible transmission problem will trigger a code. That car is 20 years old so it would be no surprise if the transmission was wearing out. (You did not mention mileage.) | None of them are really very reliable, unfortunately. Try to stick with a V6 if you absolutely must have the dodge, as @chucktobias and @Dad2LM2 say. They're much less likely to have been driven "enthusiastically", aka, been driven the crap out of. If you're flexible, you might consider a V6 Mustang pre-2015 as well. Ford was generally more reliable in that era. | |||||

| I’ve got a 2009 dodge charger R/T 5.7L with an automatic transmission. It a has tap shift option where you can shift the gears yourself to have more control and give you more power when accelerating and decelerating. It sets in my garage most of the time now and has 157,000. It runs great, on the highway the past weekend I was merging on and my cars tap shift wasn’t working, the car was on I-20 in Texas and sounded like it was stuck in 3rd gear. | There is a retired police dodge charger for sale in my area it has cosmetic damage mostly scratches and dents. I Have been told it needs a brake switch,and a transmission control module. | What are your honest thoughts on the 2022 dodge charger GT AWD (with plus package)? Has all sorts of bells and whistles on it (too much for me to count), 3.6 VVT Pentastar V6 (yeah, it's -not- a hemi, like my 2015 Ram), 8 speed automatic transmission, etc. I have only 1,050 miles on the car (it's brand new, less than a month old). Also, I seem to have been having an issue with the car bogging down in power going up hills. I push on the gas, and it just doesn't like to climb up hills that much. | Hi Scotty, I was wondering if you are able to provide a little more insight into why certain brands of vehicles, specifically trucks, are superior/inferior. I know you say how dodge is the worst followed by Chevy then Ford and Toyota at the top and in your videos give exmaples of a well running/poor running car to back this up. | That's a hard question. The dodge before 2020 probably was the worst, things got a bit better after they switched to a ZF 8HP. The Maxima has a very weak CVT, but a very decent engine. The Kia has a bad engine but the transmission is a proven copy of a ZF 8HP. What's the most likely to have tons of issues? the Fiat Chrysler dodge. What's the most likely to have a complete breakdown early on (probably during the warranty)? the Kia. | Hey all.....I bit the bullet and purchased a 2020 dodge charger, used with 37k miles from the same dealer who sold it new, with a V8 Hemi. My question is....I do not like the cylinder deactivation (called MDS). I noticed that when Im coasting, the 4 cylinders deactivate and when I get back on the gas, it makes a quick deep humming sound as the 4 deactivated cylinders begin working again. Does anyone have experience with turning this off? Ive red where with newer dodge vehicles, you have to "unlock" the PCM in order to turn the MDS option off. Also saw it ... | |||||

| Hey Scotty, I recently bought a 2006 dodge charger Daytona RT with a 5.7 Hemi with 138,00 miles on it, from a private seller. It has started stalling on me & occasionally dies at red lights. There is no check engine light on but it does flash the throttle body light. I replaced the throttle body but still have the issue. When scanned, it shows a U0100 code, losing communication wit PCM. The dealer wants me to bring it in, says it could be a number of things. What do you think? Thank you, Topher2170 | |||||
