| Brake and Hub Service | 16Relevance | 5 years ago | sgtpepper | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I had my car inspected and my mechanic recommended to have my brakes and hubs serviced. The quote was $210 for all four. Is servicing your brakes basically just adding lubricant to caliper pins, removing dust and applying brake cleaner? & for hub service do you just get a resurface tool & brush to remove the rust? Wondering if I should do it myself. I have a 2005 Pontiac Vibe | |||||

| 2012 Nissan Maxima vibrates when braking from high speed | 16Relevance | 5 years ago | Forrestculviner | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi. My Hyundai Equus 2012 got rod knock. It’s going to take 4k to get a 38k mileage engine with 3 year warranty to fix it. In the mean time, I’m driving a 2012 Nissan 2012 maxima from my parents. When I tap lightly on the brakes, it vibrates a lot, more when I’m driving faster. I feel like the rotors are warped because my dad had America tire rebalance them. I replaced the. Pads but it’s still vibrates. I’m guessing the rotors are warped and need to be resurfaced. Is it worth it to resurface them or buy new rotors? Also love your channel? | |||||

| Last week I was walking home from the parts store & stopped into monro to ask how much they charge to resurface rotors (something any parts store did 10 years ago, 20 years ago it cost $3 per drum/rotor), the guy at the counter gave me a "Huh? What are you talking about?" I had to explain the process to him & he said "Oh I dunno anything about that, I started here five months ago & whatever that machine is was broken before that." When I contacted the franchise about the issue I brought up the fact they're possibly putting people in danger/doin ... | |||||
| NissanPartsDeal.com sent me damaged parts | 16Relevance | 4 years ago | DIYKris | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty, I have a question/concern about OEM Nissan parts that I recently purchased online from NissanPartsDeal.com - this website SUPPOSEDLY to be an online store hub for all Nissan dealers and they only carry OEM genuine Nissan parts. I'm planning to do a complete brake job so I bought 4 brake rotors for my girlfriend's Nissan, Sentra, SL, 2016. I received the package in a very rough beat up condition with a poor quality packaging and the rotors all have some rust bites and corrosion in random spots. And the rear axel 2 rotors have an excessive amount of black paint on the both sided (inner and outer) of the rotors and it's on the mating surface that supposed to be shiny and free from any paint. I have not seen brand new factory rotors in bad conditions like this. I contacted their customer service and provided them with all the pictures of the rusty spots and requested a return for the damaged parts and they approved the return but they wanted to charge me 20% (Restocking Fee) and i must pay for the shippjng to return heavey package. In addition of the initial expenses of the shipping that I already paid. I would lose around $250. I called their manager and he said either keep the rusty damaged rotors or return it with 20% Restocking charges plus the shipping back. I told the guy.. it's not my fault that you sent me a rusty new rotors inside the oem package. He said they will rust anyways so we are not going to wave the charges. He was rude and refused to take the full responsibility of their dealer products. Now I'm stuck with these bad damaged rotors and not sure what to do? I reported that unfair customer service and scam bad business practice of (NissanPartsDeal.com) to the BBB. Now i can't return these heavey rotors and get charge again for non-sense fees so what do you think i should do? Please help. If I keep these rusty rotors how should i treat them? What's the best way to remove the rust bites? Also should I turn (resurface) the brand new OEM rotors? What's the best way to remove that excessive paint on the mating surface? I don't think (brake cleaner)will work. I don't want to contaminate the brand new brake pads with that paint. Please let me know your thoughts and and suggestions would really appreciated! I truly miss an honest people like you! Thanks Kris | |||||

| I found a mechanic who's willing to do this for $950. They also offered to check timing belt and tear down my left rear down for free to see why it isn't working. This mechanic told me that since the car passed smog, I won't need a compression test. But I think I'll give this mechanic a shot since they're much more reasonably priced. But any thoughts on this decision before I follow through? I may also consider selling it for $1.5k and report that there are no broken parts, thankfully. | |||||

| No. They've been resurfaced once. Probably won't need brakes till the spring. Just wondering if there was anything better than oem that would make sense. Don't mind spending a few more dollars if its worth it. I drive the truck daily. | |||||

| It needs a new head, probably bc the original head gasket blew (or warped/ cracked cylinder head), then the owner put some headgasket fixer in the coolant system and it jammed everything up. So I wouldn't worry about that junk coming back if you do everything properly. Does the block need to be resurfaced? Have you verified thats good to go before installing a new head? | |||||

| My wife parked in a parking lot was being resurfaced and didn't know it was being done that day. A tow truck moved her 2020 AWD Honda Pilot to another spot in the parking lot without her knowledge. When she got back in the car to dive it, a terrible grinding noise was coming from the front end. What damage can a tow truck do to a car if its moved without your knowledge? | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I bought a 2012 Subaru Forester with a blown head gasket (it was cheap), so I'm fixing it and have the engine out of the car right now. I'm gonna get the heads resurfaced and will change all the manifold gaskets and everything as I'm disassembling the head. Just wondering what else I should change while I have the engine out (without spending a fortune)? I was thinking timing chain, waterpump, spark plugs and fuel injectors? Anything else? I think it will be a good car once I fix it, it's only got 150k kilometers and it's a manual. Thanks fo ... | |||||

Along with Scotty's strong attachment to his '94 Celica, I decided maybe I should pick up an old Corolla/Civic and try to maybe get rid of the Kia to avoid getting blown up but also saving money. I ended up getting a '94 Corolla with 137k miles but I didn't get a mechanic to look at before purchasing the car for $1200 (rip), but I did read his book and did a bit of the bare minimum per inspec ...

When I step on gas it feels like the car pulls forward and then the revs drop and it stabilizes. All services were done at the Subaru Dealership I have all the records. | Hello, 2014 VW Passat TDI SE with 18" Wheels Break Question Being told by the dealership that the front driver's side rotor is warped so badly it cannot be turned, so recommend replacing front rotors and pads. For the rear breaks they are saying they can turn/resurface the rotors, but that the pads have plenty of life so put the old pads back on. Being told by a different dealership and another mechanic that VW and European rotors in general are not thick enough to be turned, so they do not recommend turning the rotors. Also being told that you should never use old pads on new rotors as they will not seat very well. Which do you agree with? Are we at a point where both the front and rear need both new pads and rotors? Do you know anyone in the Golden, CO area able to do this work at a reasonable price? Thank you!
