| Should I buy a Mazda that was assembled in Mexico? | 18Relevance | 3 years ago | KJN246 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Long term reliability of mazda3 assembled in Mexico Hello, I'm considering the 2023 mazda3 for my next car. I noticed that some of them assembled in Mexico, while others assembled in Japan. Is there a significant reliability hit for the ones assembled in Mexico, or would they be about the same? Thanks | |||||
| Answer to: Low maintenance/repair costs? | 18Relevance | 4 years ago | FJCruiser2014 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| The mazda3 is the only option on this list worth considering. From a quick search the mazda3 sedan starts at $20800 and the hatchback version starts at $22750. So if you want a reliable and low maintenance/repair cost vehicle with these price ranges it would definitely be worth considering Honda or Toyota cars. For example you can get a brand new Corolla or Civic in these price ranges and they're reliable cars. | |||||
| Answer to: Fun, reliable, manual transmission car? | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| @jurkjared the 3rd generation mazda3 (model years 2013-2018) is fairly reliable. Those engines (Mazda’s own Skyactiv 2.0 and 2.5L naturally aspirated I4) and Skactiv manual have held up well. I could easily recommend them. Take a look for yourself: | |||||

| @JustASneakyDude unless I am missing something, it appears the 2.5L NA I4 has cylinder deactivation on the mazda3 hatch but on the sedan it’s an available option (on the lower trims); the higher trim has it as standard, however. I looked at 2020 MY, since OP was asking about that year. | |||||
| Answer to: Mazda CX9: what do you think about the new turbo engines? | 18Relevance | 3 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| The 2.5L turbo charged engine in the CX-9 is still fairly new to tell how it will fair over time but already there are reports of oil consumption. I would stay clear, unfortunately. I'm dreaming about a Lexus 350L. It's a 3.5 Liter engine. I would go that route instead, especially with the naturally aspirated 3.5L V6. The latest generation of Lexus RX are all turbo, unfortunately, so get a used RX with a V6 while you can. With that engine it’s an end of an era crossover. All newer generations of Toyota and Lexus are going turbo and/or electrified. | |||||
| Answer to: What are the best hatchbacks? | 18Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| In today’s market it’s really hard to find used cars, they’re very overpriced. But for under $25k you can get a really nice hatchback new. In the US market the main contenders are the Corolla hatchback (- they go for around ~22k with a 2.0L engine and a CVT automatic) and mazda3 hatchback (- they go for around ~24k with a 2.5L engine and a conventional automatic) But they’re not very practical. You should also consider crossovers, basically much more practical hatchbacks like the Corolla Cross (a better Corolla) or a Mazda CX-30 (a mazda3 but ... | |||||
| Answer to: What is the safest and most reliable new vehicle (2021 or newer) that comes in a 6 cylinder? | 18Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| safest and most reliable new vehicle (2021 or newer) that comes in a 6 cylinder In 2022, The safest and most reliable cars are all 4 bangers. The safest cars EVER car (Adult Occupant Safety Score) is a race between the mazda3 (98%) and Mazda CX-30 (99%). And with the 2.0L SkyActive-G on the mazda3 being paired to the good old 6AT, it's probably going to outlast everyone too. IF it must be a 6 cylinder, the 4Runner V6 is the most durable but it lacks in safety, And the Camry V6 and Lexus ES350 are SOMEWHAT safe (91% on EuroNCAP, 4% less (worse) than ... | |||||

| ... a car people buy because it's cheaper upfront. You shouldn't push and drive fast or in a fun matter with an almost 15 year old boxer with a belt and 15 year old differentials...-Compared to the Civic the Impreza is unpredictable and boring, for example on the recent generations: The recommended mazda3, this one with a 2.0L SkyActiv you can really throw around and have fun with. (couldn't find a vid of a Corolla sedan)-Again, it's NOT unreliable but you will have to put more money effort into maintaining it than it's key rivals.> Additional sched ... | |||||
| Answer to: 2018 + Mazda 3 vs Corolla? | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| 1. Similarly to Dual clutch transmissions, almost all CVT transmissions tend to break down. The Corolla CVT is not exception, they’re somewhat better then the early ones sold outside of the US but they still are a flawed product. 2. The mazda3 is great. It uses a reliable good old conventional 6 speed automatic. (Either a great Mazda made unit, or an ok-ish Aisin made unit although it’s euro-spec and quite a dated design) In the engine department Mazda’s SkyActive engine is miles ahead of Toyota’s DynamicForce - especially when it comes down to reliabilit ... | |||||

For the mazda3 I don’t recall which year they offered cylinder deactivation, but check the mazda3 brochure (I think by 2019/2020 they had it). To add confusion, it came on certain trims (but just check the brochure for each year to dial it in). | |||||

| ... oil consumption, but it seems to be minor. According to consumer reports, the mazda3's reliability is only average compared to the rest of their lineup that ranks much higher (BUT, it's best to take their assessments with a grain of salt) And that the mazda3 is not a sports car, it's handling is quite average. So yeah it's a great car, but I'd watch out for the fact that it's not sporty handling at all, and that there are possible issues with the AC/Electronics and inspect suspension rubber components each fluid service.-You might want to consider a CX-3 ... | |||||
