I have a 1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep that is hard to start if I don’t drive it for 3 or 4 days. If I start it every day, it starts easily. I suspect that the gas is leaking through the gas lines back to the tank when I don’t drive it every day. I put a valve in where I can shut it off and on between the fuel pump and the fuel filter. That didn’t help at all. Any ideas???
There would still be fuel in the carb bowl after a few days, it's not going to drain into the tank.
Especially if it has a 6-volt electrical system make sure that the engine is completely tuned up and choke is working properly. If the carb has not been rebuilt in recent years with ethanol-resistant parts it's probably time to do so.
If it runs OK otherwise, you might just try spraying some starter fluid in the carburetor after it has been sitting for a few days. That should make it start easier so you don't ware out the starter motor cranking and cranking. Make sure the choke is opening all the way. Old engines like that can be quite temperamental.
Maybee your car battery is bad, did you check the input voltage and how much it charges when the engine is running ... my opinion it is right time for new one - winter is coming ... 🙂
