2003 Toyota corolla/automatic 133,329. Scotty I need help because I don't know what else it could be as to why it wont start up right away. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel regulator, fuel injectors, coils, alternator, battery, crank, cam, vts, sensors, spark plugs, radiator, water pump, and finally the starter. I read in some forum that 2003 Corolla was made in Japan and that remanufactured starters wouldn't work and the guy had to get one from a salvage yard from same year Corolla. Is this true or false? What else could it be? {black}:afraid: A few times it has started when I get a jump from another car but I have to keep the ignition turned for close to a minute maybe longer and pump the gas.
The fact that you have gotten it to start after a minute of cranking while hooked up to a jumper battery makes me think fuel or air/fuel issues.
Also you said it has started when having the key turned to the "on" position for a long period of time would also make me suspect a fuel delivery issue.
It would be prudent to do a fuel pressure test. I know you have new parts but most auto parts stores have a free tool loan program and a fuel pressure test kit is usually on their list.
Won't cost anything to check it.
Make sure your air filter is clean.
Also, a dirty throttle body could be the problem. Also, you didn't mention if it's been throwing any trouble codes, but maybe clean your MAF sensor too.
@jack62
"Make sure your air filter is clean." ...... I second the motion and add the fuel filter.
Hmmm I would maybe look at one ot the relay engine relay and swap these out ... give this a go.
@klob
Sorry I forgot to mention that I had replaced the main relay as well. But after oil change and VTS solenoid replacement I can get it to start while having the key turned for about 30seconds or so and slightly tapping the throttle and when I try to put it in any gear it dies. I know the computer has to relearn idle but how can it if I cant even get it in gear to drive or even sit parked with foot on brake??
