Hello Mr. Kilmer
- My wife's 2008 Ford Explorer xlt will not start has just over 200,000 miles. She left one day made it 2 miles from our house while she was driving the vehicle died out. The only code present was for the camshaft position sensor and the screen on the dash was saying CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM. The camshaft position sensor was replaced with a non OEM sensor still didn't start. The fuel pump and filter was changed it happen to be the original pump and filter. When you try to start it at first it sounds like it's about to turn over but it doesn't. Strange think about it even when you release the key it keeps trying to start. I'm really at a loss no clue what to do next. It's a the family vehicle for her and our 4 kids. Any help would be great
Thank you.

I'd suspect the ignition switch because it's certainly "sticking" in the Start position when you release the key
Would a bad ignition switch cause the vehicle to die while driving??? Or is that a totally different bag if worms.

Yes, I've had that happen. For that matter, in 2014 GM was involved in a debacle over faulty ignition switches that could shut off the engine without warning while driving.
