2012 CAMRY TRANSMISSION FLUID CHANGE ADVICE NEEDED

Hey Scotty, or whoever answers these.

I took the advice of all your YouTube videos and bought a Camry LE with 69k miles on it. In all your videos you reccomend Changing the fluid every 40k or so miles.

So now that my car is pushing 70k should I change the fluid or just leave it be?

I want this Car to last me forever but I’m scared of messing the transmission up. Hope this question finds you in good health and thanks for everything!

Okay what I would recommend is getting a suction tube removing your transmission fluid and using a light or a magnet try and attract Metal if you do not see any or very little I would change your transmission slips with new fresh fluid but if there is lots of metal filings I would put the exact same fluid back in as if you start changing when your transmission is starting to break down this can cause more severe aware and will shorten their lifespan of the transmission

So go into the pan and open up the drain plug and let some drip out? And test that with a magnet?

I’m not sure how to go in and just suck some out. Sorry, I’m a noob.

@mg-zs
70k isn't going to hurt anything, the recommended is a range of 40-60k, but I've seen a scotty video where he said 60-80k at least is fine too. I think you're in the clear, but I would do every 50k after that.

I would recommend doing that it would be less time-consuming just removing a slight bit and test it with a magnet if you find that it is okay and there is no metal filings make sure you have replacement transmission fluid and a suction gun drain all the fluid filled the suction gun up with new transmission fluid and put it into the transmission

@samotoda

This is what I was hoping would be the case. I am curious to see how the fluid looks anyway but I don’t have an eye for what to look for. Like good fluid vs bad.

I figured bc it’s the original fluid and was driven lightly that it will hopefully be alright. Definitely gonna change it every 50k after though.

Any advice or resources for finding out how to do a change on 2012s?
