It has 60,000 miles, 1.8l automatic. Since we got the car about a year ago the tpms warning light is always on, had tires checked and they said the air pressure was fine but the sensor was probably faulty and it wasn't important to fix. Occasionally the light would flash but didn't pay much attention until recently when I had to have the battery jumped and since then when the tpms flashes my clock radio and security system go out. On the interior fuse box there is an on/off switch and when I switch it off the radio and clock come back on but in the on position they go back out. Most if the time if I let the car set for a while the system resets and will everything works until the whole thing starts again. I found a forum of people with same car between 2012 and 2014 that had similar problem but the dealership they took them to couldn't find anything wrong. one person said the car shut off completely while driving which is dangerous. Finally one guy had it happen and went straight to the dealership and they did find a code and determined it's a faulty fuse box. I plan to change the fuse box but my worry is the hyundai oem part will have the same problem. Is there any aftermarket or alternative part I can get or are they very specific to each car?
My wife drives a ‘15 Elantra limited 55k so far no real issues. The 1.8 is a crapshoot of a motor to have it actually has a class action against it. To answer your question definitely use the OEM. It’ll have a warranty on it if it does go out. The aftermarket options from what I’ve seen are cheap Chinese crap that doesn’t hold up.
