Happy 2021 Scotty! I installed a remote car starter on my 2012 Kia Sportage Ex AWD (push start). I was able to remote start my car twice, but the third time it didn't turn over. When I went inside my car to just start it normally (press brake and button), it turns on for a one second, and then it turns off. Additionally, I cannot lock or unlock from inside the car or with the key FOB. When I lock, the car will make the locking beep, but will not lock. I also noticed the power to the side mirrors also do not work. I disconnected all wiring from the remote start module and EVO-ALL, same result. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm no mechanic, but you may have to get the car reprogrammed  to each of the key phobs. If everything was working fine before you installed the remote start system, clearly something in that software messed with the car's security system. A mechanic with a high level scan tool could be able to fix this, but be prepared to potentially have to take the car to the dealer. I would recommend you stay away from these aftermarket remote start systems - they can cause problems and really mess with the car's electronics. Unless the car comes from the factory with a remote start system, it's best to just leave it alone.

I didn’t even think of that if it’s a program style key when started in a non program key for it could delete the memory of the other keys I don’t know this model but mostly a key loss should at least turn on a security light or something but again I don’t know kias in particular that well

Ya sometimes the remote start systems mess with the car's existing anti-theft system - the car still has to remain locked so someone can't just get in and drive away. The software has to be compatible with the that theft system so all that can work smoothly. This is why I personally wouldn't mess with those add-on systems since they can create bigger electrical headaches.

Go through and check all your fuses to make sure one didn’t blow during the install. Not that it’s the same but a lot of remote start kits won’t allow you to start it more than 2-3 times back to back before you have to manually start it. But in this case it sounds like a fuse blew causing an open circuit

Thank you everyone for your input. I double checked all the wires, removed both battery terminals and connected them to completely dissipate all electricity from the car, and that worked!
