2016 CR-V design flaw srs system

My parents bought a used 2016 CR-V about a year and a half ago. It had been in a wreck before they bought it.

It appears as if in a head on collision the driver side impact wires were pinched and nearly severed into.

The dealership wouldn't fix it due to saying it was squirrel damage, too quickly imo, and because of a previous damage form my dad signed.

I want to know if any else has suffered an airbag deployment failure in a 2016 CR-V or similar model. This definitely needs to be reported to the NTSB.

I have pictures I can share of the obvious elastic/plastic deformation and failure of the wire itself.

They purchased a vehicle that had been in an accident, likely at a steep discount. They also signed a waiver stating any issues would not be covered and it was being sold to them as-is. Now you want NTSB to investigate? Every vehicle accident is different and there are far too many variables to say those wires will be pinched in every collision.

 

This is just the downside of buying a vehicle that has been wrecked before. It is not the manufacturers fault as the vehicle obviously survived the accident and was in good enough shape for them to buy. 

 

This is also why you always have a mechanic inspect any vehicle you are going to purchase. At this point there is nothing that can be done about it.


What my point is, is that like a fuel line, wires in the srs system shouldn't be placed anywhere they can get severed during a crash.
This has nothing to do with getting their car fixed- it's all about keeping someone from getting killed from an airbag deployment failure because the wire was put in a bad place.
If it's a design flaw, it needs to be brought to Honda's attention. If they know about and haven't addressed it, they need to be held accountable for the resulting injuries and death.


I'm sorry, but that's just a cash grab to be blunt. And it's not going anywhere. If there was a design flaw, many other people would be talking about it. But your case is the only one I have ever heard regarding this and I'm willing to put my money on the engineers who designed the vehicle knowing how things should be run rather than the consumer, no offense. Honda isn't GM. If they had a problem they would fix it, and have proven that time and again. And just for a final thought on this, remember that the vehicle you are talking about had no warranty whatsoever. Once your parents signed stating they understood this, that's the end of it. Honda is not liable for anything.
