So, I eyeballed a 2016 Honda Odyssey SE for sale at about $18K and some change. It has 93,000 miles on it, and the dealer said it’s just been sitting on the lot.
I test drove it and everything seemed fine, except for that the steering wheel seemed to shake inbetween 55-65 mph. If I was going faster or slower, no issues. There were no codes, the AC blew cold and the heater warmed up quick.
Would this be a good purchase and what should I be weary of/looking for here? I’m trying to buy out of a 2020 KIA Soul Lease, which will be about $15K and I have some play money to make it so I’d only be financing about $10K. Until I get the lease situation figured out, they won’t consider taking the Soul (and I’m hoping not to just return it because I am over mileage by about 10K). The Honda would become the family primary vehicle and I’d be searching around for a decent beater for me.
thoughts?
I have friends with those, one is either a 2016 or 2018 with around 100k, and the transmission shifts nasty to me. None of them impress me.
I would rather buy a Sienna with good maintenance records at 150k. I love Florida for buying cars, and because mini vans aren't cool, people sell them once their kids are grown somewhat.

No way on a kia.
The Honda would be better than the Kia by a good margin. However, there are some problems with this situation:
- Why would you buy a vehicle that has been sitting on the lot for who knows how long?
- You're also buying from a dealer which is also not a wise move.
- The Honda Odyssey is known for transmission problems. This may be a later model, but it still hasn't gone away.
Look at something else from a private party.
- If the car is shaking then who knows what hidden problems it may have I would steer clear and try to find a Sienna from a private seller
