2018 Suburban Brakes

I recently put new rotors, pads, and calipers on the front of our suburban. I'm now having an issue with the front drivers side caliper. It appears to be sticking slightly. I've went through and bled all 4 corners a few times, after installation, after a day, and after a few days. The issue is still the same. Does anyone have any recommendations of some additional stuff to check/try? Thanks


Some abs equipped cars also require special bleeding steps. Follow the instruction in the service guide if you did the caliper bleed valve test and confirm that the caliper is not sticking. If you rotate the disc and find intermittent binding, then the disc is warped or improperly mounted.

It sounds like a bad caliper, ie, piston not sliding correctly in the bore.  Are these new or reman calipers?


They are reman from good old autozone

Open the air bleed valve at the sticking wheel.  If problem goes away, then the caliper is OK.  Always lube the guide pins and the sliding surfaces of the pads.  Front pads should normally last 50K miles.  Could be a problem at the ABS unit, or upstream from the ABS unit.

Were you having an issue before the replacement? Seems kind of unusual to have to replace the calipers on a vehicle that new...


I was replacing pads and rotors and noticed the boots on the caliper pistons were tore all to crap. It probably didn't need new ones but I felt better replacing them rather than leaving those on there.


In that case you were smart to replace them. Any chance your brake hose is bad?


I haven’t considered checking those because they looked fine and there’s no shortage of fluid flow when I bleed the caliper. I will check though when I dig into again this weekend. Thanks
