Looking at both a 2019 Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. I know that I can look for older to save some money. However, out of these two choices, which would be better as an everyday driver in an area that gets a decent amount of snow each year? I noticed that there is an open recall for the fuel pump for the 19 RAV4 that Toyota does not have a remedy for yet. Not sure if I should be worried about that in my decision.
Right now, … today, I say RAV4 is preferred: 2.5 litre four, naturally aspirated, 8-speed automatic, dual ( port and direct - eight injectors and 2 fuel pumps) fuel injection vs. turbo, CVT, direct injection. … I hate turbos, I hate CVTs!
On the other hand, RAV4s A25A engine is immensely complicated: … electrically driven variable valve camshaft, … electronic thermostat, variable electric water pump, variable oil pump, vacuum pump for brake booster, dual fuel injection system, … not most reassuring 8-speed automatic. Fancy-shmancy EGR circuit, …
Still, … I sense RAV4 is a better choice.
F.S.
Both are great cars. The RAV4 will likely last longer if you plan to keep it long term.
we looked at CR-Vs for two years, but purchased the 2019 RAV4 because it had a traditional engine and transmission (no snow down here though)
they offered the 2.4L engine in the 2019 CR-V, but only in the base model
