Took my 2016 Nissan NVP 3500 passenger van with 50,000 miles to dealer. The heater was not working unless the vehicle was in motion. The dealer ship added anti freeze and burped the system. I picked up the van and called latter after leaving the dealership. I asked where did my antifreeze go? They said all Nissans use antifreeze. I called another dealer and they said that Frontiers and vans use anti freeze and this is a common problem. I haven't worked on cars in some time. My recollection is anti freeze leaks out, boils out(bad radiator cap) can leak into the oil, exhaust or transmission. Am I missing something with newer carsThanks

I’m not sure what the question is. Did you mean you checked your radiator and it was bone dry?
You are right, cars shouldn't lose coolant. But who knows, maybe Nissans are so crappy that they all loose coolant.
Anyway, is your heat working now?
We have a newer Nissan NV 2500 as a cargo delivery van at work. We've had it for two years & I check the fluids in it every other week or so. I have NEVER seen the antifreeze drop below the "minimum" line. Now of course, when it comes time to change oil, maybe....the chain shop where one of the office guys takes it to adds coolant, but for the most part, don't they just change oil & not add fluids??
I've never added any fluids to the van other than bug juice (sorry, washer fluid) in those two years.
/Edit...sorry, I had to change a word! D'oh!
Need more detail on this one? They bled it and it’s empty now? No heat again?
You can’t get heat without antifreeze.
Something is not adding up here.
You might want to do a pressure test on the cooling system to find leaks. The dealer should have done that. It's not normal to lose coolant.
Heat works fine now, level in overflow jug is just above minimum when cold. I marked level and dated to see if level changes. I checked level around June and did not see it below minimum. Both the dealer that did the service and the dealer that Nissan contacted for me said this was normal. Unfortunately the warranty will be up in If there is a problem I would like to have it repaired under warranty. I don't think the people I talked to were mechanics. It sounded like they were just service schedulers. I do agree something is not adding up. I may take it to an independent mechanic for an evaluation. I don't access to a garage and an independent garage may have more sway than my tests if there is a problem. It just sucks, it should be taken care of under warranty.
Did you ever flush it in the 50k miles?
No never flushed system. planned in doing that stuff when weather warmed up. No garage.
