My girlfriends 2002 volkswagen beetle is having an issue where the battery light will come on the dash and she cannot accelerate past 60mph with her foot to the floor. If she turns the car off and back on, everything goes back to normal. Could it be the alternator?

Pray it is the alternator have the battery and alternator load tested as they work together and replace any that show weakness
