Hello Scotty & All ,

I am considering a BMW convertible the 1993 e36 325i to be exact, bottom line 1 owner , says it runs great , top not working body is in good shape no paint wear or rust

is it worth the 1500$

& how reliable or costly are the repairs on these? Let me know!

thanks !

That BMW is 28+ years old with 100,000 miles.  A lot of things will need to be replaced or fixed worth more than the vehicle is worth.  But even if it was a Toyota, I could not recommend as a daily driver.  For a daily driver, I would look at something newer.  See our car buying guide under FAQ for that.

No. Way.

Even if it had 100 miles, that car is WAY too old for daily duty. Plus getting parts for it will be hard to to and cost you a fortune, and it's going to need parts immediately due to age.

Definite pass. The only BMW you can safely drive as a daily is the one you lease new. That's it.

For a vehicle that is approaching 30 yrs old, you don't want to subject it to the rigors of daily driving. Parts and labor will cost a small fortune. And at that age some replacement parts might only be available from a salvage yard. A weekend toy to tootle around on nice days, yeah. Daily driver, heck no.

For a BMW they were made well back then but its too old to be a good daily driver. I'd pay a bit more and get something more reliable. (for example an 01 Camry or 09 Civic)

If you want a convertible, what about the Toyota Solara?

As a counterpoint I daily drive a car only a few years newer than this. I do all my own work on it though and have other vehicles to use if I have to wait on parts.
