I have a 2015 Honda Odyssey. I replaced the original brake rotors at approximately 60,000 mi due to warping. I bought some Bosch rotors which lasted only about 6 months then bought AutoZone rotors and have since replaced them twice due to warping. Are the aftermarket rotors junk? Do I need to buy OEM rotors? Or is something else going on. I am doing the work myself but getting annoyed at the frequent replacement.
I think something else is going on. The rotors should not be warped that soon. How did you check the rotors for the warpage?
Hmnn, … it’s quite possible this problem may have something to do how your Odyssey is being driven, multiple drivers, … it’s a heavy car! A good way to prevent brake rotors from becoming warped is by being mindful of your braking habits. When you constantly press on the brakes or hold them down for an extended period of time, you will cause the excessive heat that will warp the rotor surface pretty damn quick. Just a thought for now, …
Best,
F.S.
Yes, a lot of rotors are junk, and some come pre-warped right out of the box.
But I would say that you are having another problem. I would start with inspecting the calipers
Rotors that are double-disc ground, not turned on a lathe, keeps both inside/outside parallel to each other. Semi-metallic pads slip in, ceramic pads have a break-in process but brake better. Use brake grease on caliper pins, and behind pads.
