Hello I have a 2013 Seat Toledo 1.4 Turbo with 7 speed DSG Transmission (shares engine and transmission with an Audi A3), it has 120,000 kilometers (75,000 Miles).
The car pings (pre-ignition).
It has no codes, nevertheless, computer scan does mention "Low Fuel Quality"
I've tried replacing spark plugs, air filter, gasoline filter, cleaned fuel inyectors, I've also applied a bottle of CRC Valve and Turbo cleaner.
I've tried changing gasoline brands/stations and usually use Premium gas, regular gas, makes no noticiable difference.
Your feedback/ideas will be much appreciated.
Thank You in advance.
Carlos
Carbon build up can be a cause of piston knock. It can create hot spots that cause pre-ignition.
As @rth3rth3 said, carbon buildup can create the issue you’re dealing with
But if it’s not that, these engines are notorious for chains stretching even during the warranty period and the pistons getting destroyed. I even saw one blow a head gasket at 81k miles (on a Škoda Rapid)
you’re probably going to have to visit a VW specialist (shouldn’t be a problem to find a mechanic that’s familiar with the 1.4TSI) and he’ll have to check it.

turn on subtitles - here’s everything there is to know about the 1.4 TSI - I hope this helps.
and if it does need a rebuild, well, it’s a 8 year old VW with a DSG. You should think twice before putting down the money to rebuild it…
Here’s what it looks like when a 1.4 TSI needs new pistons. The car in the video has only 78k miles (125k km)

lookikg at this guys YT channel, his 1.4TSI broke down again only 30k miles after replacing everything with new OEM parts.
Have the car deep scanned to see if the ignition timing is not too far advanced.
