Hello I recently graduated and will be relocated. I never needed a car until now so all advice will help. I play the tuba so I would need room for that and other music equipment. Thanks in advance!

I left an answer below and added comments so I didn't leave valiuable information out. If you check it out please give me your opinions so we can all help you more!
Hey Key,
Where are you getting relocated to? These days most cars past 2006 have rear folding seats so you could probably fit a tuba into mostly anything. I ask about the relocating because of weather and that and ideally you would want a vehicle to match. A honda fit or mazda 3 2012+might get you by ok if you're staying in an urban setting. Just remember that when you're buying a car out of warranty you have to have some cash stashed away for repairs when needed. Hybrids/electrics around that age will be cheap and tempting but STAY AWAY. These cars will come out of left field with 3 and 4k urgent repairs that break the bank.
@itaintright
Yes but when you can get a 2011 Fit and a 2011 Civic for the same price, unless you really want a hatchback, I would go for the Civic because it''s larger. Though I have to agree that the Honda Fit is an excellent choice. For a midsize car, which is now being regretted these days as SUV's are coming, you can get an amazing price. Please refree my answer below and see my thoughts so we can all give opinions on what this guy needs. I would appreciate comments on my answer. Thanks!
Depend on how much money you want to spend. Stick to Toyota or Honda cars.
@yaser
4-7k
Hi I would avoid the SUVs since their price is unreasonably high. Something like a Civic hatchback should fit your needs.
@yaser
A civic hatch for 4k? I assume he is in US where there is no way you can get a Civic Hatchback for anything less than 10 15k. Th hatchback came for the 2017 model year here.
YPu can get an older one for that price range.
@yaser
Oh those are WAAAAAY too old his price range is 4-7k I wouln't pay for than 2000 bucks for those old one's. I would try to find a 2007-2011 Civic for 5 or 6.
You would not pay does not mean that those are not worth it. They are solid popular cars and that's why they hold up their value.
@yaser
I see what you mean. They are you are correct. But I REALLY REALLY think that that is too old for him it is his opinion to get a more modern city car. But I am on the same track with you they are VERY solidly built dependable cars but too old on a 5-7k budget. A 2007-2008 Honda Fit can be gotten for 3-4k in my area and that is a lot newer and safer.
It depends on the type and price. In the 5-8k range a Midsize car I could reccomend is the Ford Fusion specifically the 2010-2012. Scotty's used cars to buy are the-
Honda Civic (I would say the best are 2007-2011 especilly in your price range)
Toyota Corolla (Low miles 2006-2008 Would be your best bet but 2012 is what he put though it will have more miles and is cheaper on the interior)
2012 Ford Fusion
2011 Camry (Again, this is cheaper made than the earlier 2006 and before camries and would be too expensive for a good one so consider a 2005-2006 in good shape is my reccomendation)
Honda Accord (In that price range I would not consider this car unless it is a manuel transmission 2010-2012, or else forget it)
The 2011 Civic and 2012 Fusion are good all in all, for SUV's-> consider a CR-V. (The rav4's 2006-2008 would cost you a lot more and have oil burning issues my friend has one with 70k miles and burns oil like mad scotty also has a son with camry same engine as rav4 burns oil like mad)
In your price range, I would stay away from 2006+ Camrys/Rav4s
The Ford Fusion is a midsize car and is very reliable engine transmission etc. It is called Fusion because it is a mix of Volvo technology when it comes to safety and especially the 2010-2012 are very safe and have "European driving dynamics"
Words I heard on almost EVERY car review on this I have no experience
Scotty says he is impressed by the ride comfort cornering safety and reliability
Most people would reccomend a Camry as a good car just stay away from the 2007-2009 though it is not extremly major the engine issues are headaches so you don't need it a 2006 would be a much better built one with optional V6 as well
2006 Honda Civic--> Run away, though priced cheaper, this model year is first of gen and has engine block issues
2006-2008--> Run away i dont want to explain same issues as camry
2009 Toyota Corolla XRS --> has same problematic engine as rav4 and camry but no other year or trim in corolla has it the best corolla engine is the 1.8 I4
For a small car, go with the Civic
FOr a midsize car, go with the Fusion
For a large car, a Toyota Avalon (but it is EXTREMLY large and I think uneededly large but if I just wanted to put it out there)
FOr an SUV--> 2005-2011 Honda CR-V
Any car listed above as a good car to buy is with the assumption that you will take it to an INDEPENDENT mechanic to make sure the car is working properly. For example, to make sure it is not flooded or if the transmission is going out or something.
I hope this information helps you!
Note: "2006-2008--> Run away i dont want to explain same issues as camry"
Is what I wrote above: here i am refering to the Toyota Rav4
@kerem-umut-kerem
THanks and Im in the process of relocating to Presidio TX
Should be able to find a nice Crown Victoria. Can carry the entire band with the huge trunk space. Everything out of sight.
2007-2012 Honda Civic
2010-2012 Ford Fusion
2007-2012 Toyota Corolla
@brandon-king101
avoid 2012 civic (lower quality), fusion is excellent, 2006-08 corolla (avoid 09)
Only complaints I heard about the 2012 Civic were the looks and materials used on the interior but still reliable
@brandon-king101
Yeah but you are correct but the driving and interior quality as well as looks are not that good compared to the 2011 and 2013, where they refreshed it. In his price range of 4-7k, I wouln't spend 7-9k on a 2012 I would just go with a 2007-2011, which would be less expensive for a more value vehicle. But your list makes sence.
@brandon-king101
I see on your image you have two Civics (2013-2015 i belive). Just know the yours are better than the 2012.
