Chevy Spark reliability

Hey Scotty,

Great channel.

I own a 2019 Chevy Spark. Paid a little over 13,000.00 new and has 37000 miles and also just had the tranny fluid flushed. (After watching your video on their cvt issues)

That said, carvana will give me $15,075.00 for it. Outright, no trade.

I would like a Carolla, but not sure if I want another payment since the spark is paid off.

I am retired and don't put that much milage on it. I do my own oil services at 5000.

Would it make sense to sell it to get the civic or just keep taking care of the spark.

Fyi. We love the spark. Fun car, good mph etc.

Clarification: How much annual mileage would you put on it?

10-12 thousand

If someone is willing to give you more for that Spark than you paid for it I'd take the money and run. They are not good long-term vehicles.

@chucktobias is right.  The Spark is known for being ok while on warranty but going bad in a hurry once the warranty expires (lot of Korean cars seem to be like that, for some reason).

On this forum, you will always get the same answer: Corolla and civic.  That’s for good reason.  But since you like the spark, you might take a look at the Honda Fit.  Similar form factor and city zippiness but more reliable.

But whatever you do, don’t get a Versa, that would not be better than what you have.

Good luck

If you can get more for it now than what you paid for it then don't even think twice; definitely get rid of it. As for Civic or Corolla if you're someone who keeps the car for a long time it might be a good idea to buy a brand new one and maintain it and drive it without trouble. I say new because you'll own it from day one and you can maintain it yourself and take good care of it. The base Corolla starts at a lower price than the Civic if the price matters and it's a nice reliable car. I think the base Corolla starts at about $20k msrp.

Spark reliability is LOW. If you can sell it at a profit, JUMP ON IT!

Go for the Toyota it may last the rest of your life.
