Corolla Altis 1.6 high fuel consumption

Hello,

I drive a Toyota Altis 1.6L 2003 with a 3ZZ engine and A246 Automatic transmission in Malaysia. I bought the car only few months back. Everything about the car is fine, except the fuel consumption is very high. I calculated (several times) only around 8km/litre combining roughly 70% highway and 30% city.

I however feel 2 points worth mentioning. Number one, the moment i press the gas paddle, the rpm jumps to around 1500 and the car starts moving normally. It happens all the time. I drove a car with a slipping gearbox and my car does not feel like that at all. Number two, i cannot drive more than around 120km/h on a plane road in "D". If I'm driving downhill, i can reach 140 only.

I use 5W30 oil. Transmission oil was replaced (didn't change my situation. Tyre size 205/55R16, (all season), tyre pressure is around 32psi. Using relatively stiff coilovers. Throttle body, airflow sensor, all cleaned up and smooth idling. No engine fault code. I use ordinary petrol (RON95).

Does my problem have a solution? Or, it is not a problem at all? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

I would check your fuel trims and the Catalytic Converter.....

@Oneimich, I have been looking everywhere for bad catalytic converter symptoms for last 3 days. But i don't have a single symptom. I tried once or twice to put the great in "2", it can rev up to 6000 also without any hesitation. Usually clogged up catalytic converter will try to prevent engine revving too high, right?
I'm not sure what you mean by fuel trims. If you mean the type, it is the ordinary type of petrol. High performance cars here use RON97 or RON100.

 Fuel trims  is a measurement that you can monitor through an advanced OBD scanner, like Scotty uses on his videos. Google says you are getting the equivalent of 19 miles per gallon, which is very low.

Have you checked the basics - air filter, new plugs, check for vacuum leaks? Do the brakes drag? (get up to speed, put trans in neutral, see if the car coasts or slows down quickly).

Is your driving slow speed, stop and start?

@glen_stet
The original air filter, spark plugs, brake pads are around 2000km old. I replaced the basics right after i bought the car. The 4 disc brakes should not drag because the car coasts normally in neutral. Only the vacuum leak and fuel trim (lean or rich) are yet to be measured.
Is it possible for all or any of the injectors to put extra fuel due to malfunction? If yes, how can i check that? If I measure the injectors' resistance, will it indicate anything in my case?
