[Solved] Diagnosing No Start...

Hello everyone,

I have a 2009 Chevy Express Van (160k miles) that has been sitting for months and now won't start. It's parked on hill and it's cold. It had low gas and dead battery. I've addressed this and it still won't start, not even really trying to turn over. I've also sprayed some starting fluid into the intake. With all lights on, I'm just getting a consistent click... click... click. about one every second or so. What are we thinking? Bad starter? I've love any insight...

Thank you all very much,

Jasper

The 'barely turns over' sounds more like a 'No crank' situation. You need to fix that first. Could be battery, starter, wiring.. Once that's fixed you look at a "Cranks but no start" diagnosis. Scotty has great videos in the FAQs under troubleshooting for both situations. Starter fluid is used to determine a 'crank no start' condition caused by a lack fuel.

You were exactly right, it had both bad starter and bad battery... now it's running great. Thank you again.

Excellent! Thank you for the update!
