Dodge A/C problem

Topic starter

I have a 97 dodge ram, 2500, diesel. 667,700 original miles. Automatic. I have had 2 shops look at the a/c. The compressor was changed, then the dryer, then the condenser, and the orifice tube. The pressures are good and no leaks.  Leak and sealer fluids were added.  The dryer and lines freeze when run in recirc mode. After all the checks are made and truck is driven about 20 miles the lines freeze up.  It may last 2-3 days then they freeze up again. The fan blows ok. In fresh air mode lines don't freeze up as soon. I know when lines freeze because air flow from vents is greatly reduced.  Any ideas? No one knows cause or fix.  FYI, a/c was fixed 14 months ago. Compressor, dyer, tube, and condenser were changed.  All good then compressor goes out at 14 months.  Now, no one knows what to do.

Thanks

Is there an anti-frost thermostatic switch in that AC system that might have gone bad? (Usually they're in or near the evaporator if present.) When the compressor was replaced was it a rebuilt one? Those tend to be of poor quality, best to buy new. Unfortunately if the replacement compressor has failed it is likely that it's contaminated the rest of the system with debris and those other parts would have to be replaced again as well.
