heyy scotty, I wanted to know about the weird knocking noise that my Toyota Innova has started making since I changed the engine oil for the first time after buying it. The car has 370 thousand km on it with 2.7 ltr engine Toyota Innova 2011
i also wanted to know what oil will be the most suitable for my engine?
regards,
What oil does the cap state? That is the oil you should use.It also makes me wonder if someone put something in the oil to hide a potential problem.
I don’t remember anything written on oil cap cuz I’ve opened the oil cap quite a few times but still I’ll check it one more time
It would also be in your owners manual as well.
Hope you put the oil where the oil is supposed to go and didn't start a dry engine. Either that or your oil pump stopped working and you're getting no lubrication to the rod bearings, or anything else.
How about I use some engine flushing liquid before the next oil change?
That won't help if the noise is from damaged or worn bearings. Might well make the problem worse.
That's a high mileage engine. The seller probably poured something in there to hide the knocking.
Do you know what oil was there in the engine before your oil change? If not, call the previous owner and just ask. He probably was using heavier oil to compensate for engine wear. If the wear has not gone too far, chances are that you will be able to drive years that way / with the heavier oil the previous owner was using.
