Hello Scotty. I have a 2014 silverado with the 4.3 ecotec. 89k miles. No problem "yet" with the AFM cylinder deactivation system. What's your thoughts on plugging in a AFM disabler device before there's an issue? Would that prevent future problems or not? Thanks in advance for your insight.
You should disable it. Now, you can try the Range OBD-II software option. But if you want to truly delete it, you need to replace the cam and all 16 lifters with non-AFM replacements and have the truck tuned for the parts.
About a $3000 job.
You should disable it. AFM will destroy your engine.
I recommend the AFM disabler from Range Technology: Your model truck is supported

I would buy from them direct to get the most recent firmware. These also won’t drain your battery which other AFM disablers can.
