I removed oil cap and saw “corrosion”

I'm from Brazil and I have an automatic Hyundai HB20 that has a 1.6 Gamma Engine (F4FA/F4FC) with 26300 miles.

Today out of curiosity I removed the oil cap to check the internals of the engine, then I saw what looks like corrosion in the top of the engine. Is this normal? I use ethanol as gas.

Sorry, I didn’t see it 🙁
Thanks for adding it here!

the corrosion you see is not on a contact surface. Your engine will probably be fine.

How much do you drive it? You did not indicate your model year.

I drive everyday, mixed with city/highway. It’s a 2018.

ok so the engine gets regular lubrication. I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you change the oil often (ethanol is corrosive)
The engine was designed to use ethanol, yes?

Thanks for the help! I got kinda scared when I saw it. Every maintenance is done by the dealer and I do it under the mileage limit. Yes it can handle gasoline and ethanol, here in Brazil ethanol is way more used than gasoline.

I'm sure you're laughing at us with our gas prices right now.

Actually our prices were as bad recently, but we’re having elections this year so our president promoted a massive tax reduction, it helped. Our problem is the car prices here, the HB20 is an entry car, and a brand new costs R$77.500,00 (basic hatch model with a 1.0l engine with 66hp) which is impossible for 80% of the population (minimum wage here is R$14.000,00/year, so a person would have to work 5 years to pay it), also we have an anual tax (IPVA) that costs 4% of the total of the vehicle each year and our cars. It’s hard to own a car here unfortunately 🙁
