Should I keep my Altima

Hey Scotty,

I have a 2015 Nissan Altima 2.5 SL engine with 77,000 miles on it. I maintained it very well but I only drive it like 4 to 8 times per month since I mostly drive a big rig truck. I’m concerned that the CVT transmission will go out eventually. Is it wise to trade it in for a 2021 Honda Accord or do I keep it till the wheels fall off?

Put it up for sale to see what you get. If you are happy with the offer, sell it.

I’d get rid of it. Unless you get the manual option with the Honda realize you’re just trading one CVT for another. And although I will say I’d take a Honda CVT over a Jatco CVT I’m still not sold on that technology yet.

Prices of used cars at an all time high! Price it at a nice price you want and see how you make out.

I say, keep it! This Altima of yours is still serving you well, right? It’s already depreciated a big bunch, right? And if it happens to die, … one day, in a distant future, so be it! You sell it now, … and probably have to sell it cheap - because it is Nissan, … and buy that new Honda - which is expensive, and troublesome by some reports.

Anyway, by the time your Altima finally croaks in the distance future, … say, after another 50k or so of travel, your newly acquired Honda, will depreciate so much that you will wish that you just kept your Altima! ( Just a financial suggestion, … nothing more.)

I would probably trade it.

I got a 2014 nissan versa with a CVT in it and I got 130k miles on it and I had my transmission fluid changed about a month ago and I have 0 issues with it. Honestly I am going to drive it till the wheels fall off. I've driven from wyoming to southwest New Mexico multiple times and literally does great but experience may vary i'm sure. The only thing I had wrong with my car was a bad wheel barring but that's it. Hopefully what ever you do I hope it goes good for you. I think if you really take care of it that it just might last longer than you think but just know that when you go to accelerate with that CVT do not and I mean do not go pedal to the ground just because it takes a second for the transmission to engage and move because it might wear out that belt pre maturely.

Honestly just keep driving it till the wheels fall off, you never know how long those things are gonna last.
