Lexus ES 350 shifting issue?

2013 Lexus ES 350. 68k miles. Bought the car with 65000 miles, drove fine for a few months. Decided to try eco mode out for the first time and the way it set the shift points and how it reacted to hills, bends, etc was horrendous. I switched it back to normal mode and it was fine. The next day, and ever since then it has been almost unbearable most days. It up shifts and down shifts back and forth going down hills. Some shifts are sudden and harsh. If I’m going up hill and let off the gas at the peak it reliably hard shifts. The car constantly feels like it’s trying to engine brake me but changes it’s mind in a loop. Is there something wrong with it mechanically or is this a simple TCM reset fix? I thought Lexus were supposed to be smooth and relaxing

Did you check for codes?

Call the Lexus dealer and see if there is any update for your transmission.

Perhaps pull the battery cables off long enough to reset the computer. When it re-learns your driving style without eco mode, it may shift better.

I thought about that but I was under the impression that didn’t reset the transmission. I will give a try though this weekend. Should just removing them do the trick or should I attempt to drain any residual power while disconnected as well?

@josh96jjl yes I would go ahead and turn the lights on once you have disconnected the battery, and leave it there for a bit. It may not help, but it won't hurt anything. I would follow the guidance from Scotty on resetting it.

@nlord appreciate the advice
