[recap]
Last weak i was coming from a friends house and while driving back home in the hightway, i pushed the car to something like 140/180 km/h, wanted to test the car and also was too dark and there were almost no movement on the streets, and i didn't want to take the chances, i've managed to drive near home but had to leave two other people before.
[the starting]
In my way back, i was driving slowly this time because there was a little more movement in the place i was but after that i started to speed again because the road was wider and i was really tired, like 1 minute after the car i heard a clicking sound which i ignored because i thought i could get home before and check that later, and a few seconds after those clicking sounds, the car just died mid road, and since i was speeding the car had enough speed to let me look the mirrors and park it near a crosswalk.
[the problem]
Turned the key off, and then tried to turn it on and only a heavy like click sound (tuk) and nothing else. I just assumed my battery died. Phone without charge, and alone in the street, tried to get some help and like an hour later someone stopped to help me. We tried to jump the battery and it was getting hot, i thanked him and told him to help me get my car to my house since it wasn't too far and not jump the battery because i was afraid it would just blow up, cause even more damage or even damage his battery and cause him to be in a similar position i was.
[How is it going]
The oil level, coolant are fine, i've been checking it every week, the car doesn't seem to have other electrical issues so far. When i turn the key, everything turns on, the problem is only when i try to crank. Checked the fuse link in the battery's positive terminal and seems to be ok, checked both fuse boxes and everything seems to be ok, i was checking for some other damage inside the car and nothing seems to be at fault. When i try to crank with the same battery i was using the car continiously clicks, and i know it's the battery, but the terminals get hot, aside from that everything turns on.
Using a charged battery, i only get a single heavy click sound (tuk) and nothing else, and the terminals get hot. Seeing that the only thing that cames into my mind some kind of short in there and i'm not electrician and to be honnest i don't want to get another person to put hands on my car and start guessing things i could've done myself and charge me for it.
Today i removed the starter and performed some bench tests using the same battery, where i jump a negative cable to the starter body, the positive to the main terminal of the solenoid and one wire coming from that same positive to the solenoid's conntact that comes from the ignition switch on the fuse box, it's "engaging" and rotating, fast but my eyes can keep with it, so, doesn't seem to be fast enough.
I'm doing all this, because as i said, i don't want to be spending money on things that aren't broken, or make things even worse. Never ever i got something like this, the stalling is one thing, but heating takes things to another level. Another thing i'm considering, it that it was the flywheel it stuck (hope not, but yeah, my mind is racing theories now). I know there are a lot of experienced people in here, and, if one of you have ever experienced something like this, please guide me and show me some light. I'll be performing more tests tomorrow.
[complementary info]
This is already too long, but i'd like to share another detail, for those who have been following my story, i had problems with fuel pump, and one of the people that did the last job on it, inverted the fuel pressure regulator rubber ring with the plastic ring, not sealing it properly, causing the car to have problems to crank, it's lasted few months i'd say, until i googled a lot and tried to solve it myself which worked (it's about a month or so since i did that). That alone was putting a lot of charge on the starter for months.
I was about to test the alternator, even got it out the engine bay, ran few tests on the connections and everything seemed to be fine. Before i did another thing, and the car was already on the jack, i've decided to check if the engine was stuck, and gues what.
[the problem]
It's stuck (the engine)! hence the heat on the terminals when i try to crank, since it's stuck and there's no spinning the resistance increases.
[cause]
Cause, gunk (for those who've been following my journey with this champiom know i had problem in the past) and oil pump failure, i'm about to evalutate the total damage, but as for now, it's a motor replacement or parts which i think it's just as expensive as getting a replacement motor and twice the work. This was a catastrophe waiting to happen, pushing the car that much just sped up the result, since i was never considering a flush.
[note]
For those in a similar position, if you engine has some sort of gunk, remove it before it's too late no matter in which part, just get rid of it, or pray for it to not fail on you on the most critical moment. I had the maintenances in check, and it still happened, and the funny part is, just some time and less money than the current damage would've done much better.
Probably i'll be getting another engine and sell the car, since the only thing keeping me for getting rid of this car was the engine (and i really love that car), and i'm about to stop driving within few months because i'm moving.
So, thanks for the answer(s) or and to those who even considered. Peace.
i started to speed again.. and i was really tired
You are nuts and probably shouldn't have a license.
the car just died mid road
Get your alternator tested.
Thanks for the feedback. About the speed, i second that statement. I'll be doing these tests tomorrow.
