I have a 2001 lincon ls.. Im working on changing the coil pac.. I bought it like that but haven't driven it for about 6 months except walmart... the cover the coil connects to is missing a stim so it's not connected right (I have to replace the cover..) fortunately I've made it an hour away for work today.. im supposed to go tomorrow as well, after watching one of ur vids I'm worried it might have a long term affect on my head gasket because it over heat's after an hour or so .. it made it to work  and about the last minute the temp gauge said hot.. its leaking oil out of coil pac.. can this cause a gasket to malfunction?

I'm hoping it's the fan .. I'm scared please help

The oil leak is coming from the valve cover gasket.

it's coming from where the coil pack goes inn ..

Also, the coil pack is a simple transformer to boost voltage from around 14 to around 25,000 volts to fire the plugs.

Start with the basics.  Radiator cap.  Is it 20 years old like the car?  Is your coolant in the overflow tank full?

possibly.. yes..

The coil pack goes through the valve cover which is sealed around the base of the coil pack with the valve cover gasket.  It would have nothing to do with engine overheating.  That would be the cooling system components which all should be checked.

appreciate it..

would the coil misfire cause any major problems
