I have a 2004 toyota land cruiser with 166k miles. The right low beam light is not working. I changed the bulb and checked the fuses. Both the new bulb and fuse work on the left side. The wire appears to be fine from what I can see. It is hard to fully trace the wires. Any suggestions on other things to try? Thanks for the help
You need to check for power and ground. Do you have ground on one side of the lamp socket? No ground, check the ground connection at the right front fender. Do you have power on one side of the lamp socket? If you don't have power, you need to make sure that the fuse in the left inner fender fuse panel is good. If Okay, check the splice in the wiring harness at the right front of the engine compartment. Also make sure the wiring harness hasn't rubbed on something and is compromised. The spliced wires come from the fuse box, go to the right low beam and to the Daytime Running Light Module.
There is the possibility that you have a bad light socket.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am out of town until next Sunday, but will check these things and let you know what I find.
Most likely the bulb connection is fried on the inside. Have you looked inside the connection where the bulb plugs into? If there are any burn marks, then the connection needs to be replaced (you can cut off and wire in a new one or replace the whole harness). Follow the wires and see if there is a short somewhere. Usually halogen bulbs (if that's what you're using) are polar reversible, but have you tried plugging it in the other way? Let us know.
