Hi Scotty and everyone,
Thanks for all of your work. I am still working on my Hyundai Santa Fe 2008 with a 2.7L V6 engine (170000 miles). I am a first-time driver and I might ask stupid questions.
It's idling poor, even shaking and halting sometimes (the effect is less prominent if I put it into neutral). It's hesitating and has less power. Also, it's giving P2187 and P2189 lean codes.
I have done so far:
- Replaced the spark plugs
- Replaced PCV valve
- Replaced intake manifold gasket
- Cleaned the MAF sensor and throttle body
- Did the smoke test for vacuum leaks
- Checked purge solenoid valve (only manually)
- I did fuel injector cleaning 8000 miles ago (at the local store) {and the problem started after that}
Live data shows over 20% long and short term fuel trims which decrease with increased RPM. I suspected a vacuum leak but couldn't detect it by smoke check or carb. cleaner spraying.
There is no misfire from the OBD scan. The engine works at 194F
I haven't tested the fuel pump yet.
My questions:
- Does Hyundai Santa Fe 2008 with a 2.7L V6 engine has EGR valve and how can I locate it? I read a bad EGR valve can be the cause of poor idle but couldn't locate it in my car. I found EGR vacuum solenoid, does it function in place of the EGR valve?
- Does Hyundai Santa Fe 2008 with a 2.7L V6 engine has Idle air control valve and how to locate it? I read a bad IAC valve can be the cause of poor idle but I couldn't locate it?
- I found info that a bad purge solenoid valve can be a reason for lean codes and my car failed to start a couple of times after filling the gas tank. But when I check manually (blow into the valve) purge solenoid it seemed ok. Should I replace it anyway? and does bad purge solenoid valve result in poor idle, loss of power, and halting?
- Should I change spark plug wires or o2 sensors?
Best regards
Aibek
I would try the purge solenoid valve if you get enough vacuum leaks it can do all that
