Scotty, my 2020 Honda CR-V has a feature that kills the engine every time I stop.

my 2020 Honda CR-V has a feature that kills the engine every time I stop for a light or traffic. I know there are lots of other models including Chevys that have the same feature. My question is -am I going to wear out the starter and battery over and over again since they probably get used about 50 times more than normal? There is a button to shut off the feature but auto stop is the default. Does it really save much gas because it only kills the engine for a few seconds to one minute each time?

Yes, the stop/start systems cause premature wear to the starter, engine, etc. and definitely wear those items out faster.

The best thing you can do is push the button to disable it every time you start the car. There is no warranty-friendly way to disable it permanently other than that.

The auto start/stop features is one of the dumbest features ever put on a motor vehicle.  Ostensibly, it's supposed to save gas, but as usual, "The Road To Hell Is Paved With Good Intentions."  Either push the button marked "A" on the dash each time you start it, or get a bypass dongle that plugs into the OBD port to bypass this feature.
