Should I buy CVT transmission INFINITI QX60 ?

Hi Scotty

I leased Infiniti QX60 in 2018. Now it’s lease going to end in March 2021. Do you think it’s a good idea to buy the car? It has 22000 miles on it and no running problem as such. However I have to replace the tire and breaks may be.

If it’s not a good idea to buy Infiniti then please suggest another 7 seater SUV.

thanks

It could be a good car until 50 60k miles or so but the CVT is one of the weakest ever made don't expect more than 100k definetly no more than 120 130k out of that car. You leased it and that is the smartest decision. I personally would move on to a Toyota Highlander which could last 2.5-3 times more than the Infiniti. If you like the Infiniti and are fine with selling it in 2 3 years, then I guess sure you have done the maintenance yourself and know the condition.

No, don’t buy it especially since it has that CVT.  Kerem’s right on with the Toyota Highlander.  If you need something more spacious, there’s the Sequoia too but you’ll get worse mpg.

I would not buy the Sequoia, it's way overpriced for what it is, the highlander is a better and more modern choice.

That trans can last as long as you maintain it and if you like the vehicle then keep it if it works from you. If you want extra piece of mind get an extended warranty but as long as you service it I doubt you’ll need it for the cvt

the engines are solid in those along with the rest of the car, but the transmission can be a weak point. I would wait for the 2022 Qx60 since that's replacing the CVT.
