Should I replace a failed engine on my 2007 Mazda CX-9?

My 2007 Mazda CX-9 piston bearing has been diagnosed as faulty. Idles OK but under stress begin to rattle and engine fails. Considering a replacement engine & installed for around $4,000 to 5,000. Heard you mentioned that earlier model Mazda's transmissions are not good. Last year engine was dropped (with warranty) to replace leaky oil seals and got other things replaced while engine was out (water pump, timing chain, etc). A year later the car now has 185,000+ miles and replacement engine has about 90,000. Don't want to put an engine in it if transmission is lousy. I have learned to trust what you say! Optionally considering finding a 2001 Toyota 4Runner you mentioned in some reviews of cars recently. (Need a bit of room to carry camera gear from time to time.) Thank you for all you do.

I don’t think it’s worth it, I would put that money into a replacement vehicle.

Thank you

It's not worth putting a new engine into that 15-year-old Mazda, which is essentially a Ford Edge in Mazda clothing. Time for a new car.

Sell it for whatever you can get and move on.
