Hey Scotty, I’ve been looking at getting a 2014 Mustang V6. not sure if they’re money pits or not. It has 39k miles for less than $17,500. From a dealership

The 3.7L V6 is a strong motor. I wouldn't pay that for an 8 year old Ford, personally. That's what my 2017 V6 is allegedly worth as a trade-in with 22,000 miles.

Have a mechanic check it out. With low miles like that, it could have been someone's toy on the weekends that they drove hard. It could also have been a toy that was kept in a garage and rarely driven. I tend to drive my car harder. Those V6s have the power of the 4.6L Modular V8s in the early 2000s cars.

I had bought a used 2014 V6 with low miles one owner, 6spd manual 5 years ago for $11k. It was ok, just not into Mustangs...

But at $17.5k, not just no but HELL NO. Even in today's crazy car market that's way overpriced

Dealer - NO

$17,500 - NO

8 years old - NO

Older Mustang models are more reliable and actually look like Mustangs. I wouldn't mind spending money on one.

That definitely is a lot of money for an eight year old car, but if it is a car you want and you don't mind paying that kind of price have it checked out by your trusted independent mechanic before purchasing it. Also, try to negotiate and lower the price if you can.

Depends on how the car was used. Many Mustang owners are pretty hard on them.

Look for signs the car has been raced or drifted. Look for suspension or engine mods or signs that such things were once installed but removed. Look for expensive tires or brakes.

If just driven normally, a Mustang is just another Ford with maybe a little more pep and better handling.

$17K seems like a lot but it's about what I'd expect for my identically set-up, known cherry Stang.
