Which will make my transmission last longer?

I have a 2001 Camry with 240k miles. I am starting to see metal particulate on the transmission dipstick. To get the most miles out of the old transmission, should I drive it till it dies or should I change the fluid, filter, and add anti-slip?

is it actually slipping? If not, then don't put anti-slip.

You should probably save every penny and get a new vehicle now so that this one doesn't leave you on the side of the road on dark cold rainy night.

It isn't slipping yet. I'm eventually going to put a new transmission in it. I got it for $1000 because it was leaking coolant and oil. A $10 cam plug seal and a $30 coolant hose later and I have a good car except for the transmission.

You say 'eventually' as if it's going to wait for you.

And so you'll spend thousands and thousands of dollars to replace the tranny in a worthless 20yr old Camry with 240k miles ?? The engine has no life or left in it. If you get in a wreck they're going to hand you sack of peanuts, and you'll have no car, and no money for a new car.

The engine is fine and the car drives. I'll throw a a $400 junk yard transmission in it and get another 40k miles down the road. It's better than being in debt over a car.

good luck

I take it back, if your seeing metal particles in the dipstick, drive it until it dies or sell it for scrap. Ts just a matter of time.....

Drive it till it dies, but be prepared for the possibility it can go on you and you’re stranded.  So, in the meantime I’d be looking for another car.
