| I got the trolley jack but when I lifted my 2008 Honda Accord 170k the other day, it made a pop noise when lifting and now I'd rather return it in fear of it failing. My local Harbor Freight has the Pittsburgh 3-ton low profile jack for $99 if you're in the club and 2-ton low profile for $119 (no coupons or discount). I'm starting to do a little DIY here and there and live in an apartment so I'm trying to think and gather opinions, is it better to have lift capacity for coverage or weight/portability (roughly 30lb difference between 3 ton and 2 ton)? | |||||

| I found a way! On the jack. There is a hidden panel that has a shaft connected to the jack mechanism. Removed the panel, and used a pair of hose pliers to twist it. As Scotty says, when there is a will, there is a way. | |||||

| 2020 Honda Civic Sedan LX, 5000 miles, CVT Does anyone know what this screw is on a Daytona 3 ton low profile jack? I almost thought it was the oil fill plug because in the manual there are only 3 screws under the plate but there are 4. Does anyone know what the screw circled in red is? I unscrewed it and screwed it back on once I realized it wasn't the oil fill plug. I bled the jack and everything works fine, I lifted the car and everything seems normal but I am still a bit paranoid. Thanks! Link in case pic too small: | |||||

| For emergency use, the scissor jacks seems to work great. I’ve used it in a pinch. And I think it is the least maintenance. A bottle jacks might also be an option. I’ve never used one, but I am eyeing one if I ever do go buy another jack. Floor jack is just way to damn big and heavy to haul around. It’s great at home or for work, but space is precious in a car. | |||||

| Hey bud. Sorry about your jack, I hope you take it to a recycling center, maybe it can be reborn as a super powerful industrial hydraulic pump. I only dabbled in the DIY mechanic stuff for a few years and didn't want to spend so much on jacks. A fewer of the lower priced hydraulic and scissor jacks either failed on me or seemed unsafe after awhile. I landed on the 1.5 aluminum low profile quick jack trolley from Harbor Freight about 2 years back and it has been holding up well. | jack up the car and put it on jack stands. inspect the CV axles. If the boot on the axle is cracked or broken, replace it. If those CV axles are original, it's well past time for them to be changed. | |||||

| Scotty in his videos is usually seen using Harbor Freight jacks. I have used them as well for quite a few years and have found them to work well. (HF jack stands are another story, however.) I don't think Harbor Freight has a 4 ton model though, only up to 3 ton. U.S. jack has 4 ton jacks. The company has a good reputation for quality products made in the USA. | |||||

| I got some jack stands, a floor jack, and a place to work on it. I did raised up one wheel. I could move it some from side to side. So that indicates it has a problem with the tie rod or what it is attached to. I took off the outer tie rod; needed a fork tool to get it off. I could not get off the inner tie rod. I was trying to use an adjustable wrench. I wonder if those special tools would help. So I put the inner tie rods cover and rubber seal back on. Then put the outer tie rod on.
