| Answer to: Which motor oil weight should I use for my 1999 Ford F-150? | 21Relevance | 4 years ago | OLD GUYS RULE | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| No, it won't hurt. Ford recommends synthetic blend for those engines now, because Motorcraft discontinued conventional oil which was the original spec back in the day. Full synthetic offers better protection than either. A high mileage full synthetic 5W-30 would be my suggestion there. Brand doesn't really matter but I hear good things about Mobile 1 high mileage full synthetic. | |||||

| So at 104,000 miles shall I continue with regular 5W-30 or shall I go to synthetic or full synthetic? Scotty mentioned in one of his videos about an older car started to leak/give problems by using synthetic...so he kept it at regular oil. I don't care about what brand to use, I just want to know if I should keep using regular 5W-30 or go to Full synthetic on my 2005 Sienna? | |||||

| Hi Guys, 12 year old Mazda 6 uses 0W20 synthetic motor oil. Change every 5,000 Kms. Over150K Kms now always used fully synthetic motor oil what ever is on sale at the time. Prefer Ultra Platinum Pennzoil if I can, it just feels like it runs better. Now I see an new oil called High Mileage what is that costs the same. Is it better for older engines. Will it help on seals and sludge? Thank you, Ren | |||||

| ... oil change, I usually do it myself, always use Mobil 1 full synthetic and a premium filter, but last month being that I live in NJ, we had a ton of snow so I brought it tire and auto place that I use on occasion. Now my check engine light is on and my oil pressure is 50 psi on a cold start up, then drops as the engine warms up, at operating temperature while driving it's around 20-30 psi the drops to about 10 psi at idle. I scanned it and the code is "P0521 oil pressure sensor/switch range/performance". I've already replaced the sensor with an OEM AC Delco ... | |||||

| ... now. These engines are known to have this issue. Worn or sticky rings is most likely cause I see. PCV valve changes don't seem to help too much. Any advice? I use 5w30 high mileage Pennzoil. I think that used to be a full conventional oil. It now is advertised as a synthetic blend(as most are these days.) Thought about switching to a 10w40 synthetic blend or maybe 5w40(or 0w40) full synthetic. However I've heard it can be problematic to go full synthetic at this point. Any advice?( Other then buy a Camry next time LOL) | |||||
| Answer to: Should I switch to synthetic oil | 22Relevance | 3 years ago | MountainManJoe | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Check for leaks. Replace PCV valve. You will likely always have some consumption due to low use. 3,000 miles is 20th century wisdom. 3 months is just crazy. switching to a higher grade oil (as indicated by the testing certifications on the label, GF6 etc.) is good for your engine. Ignore the jingo (like "synthetic") and other marking claims ("high mileage"). no Also, please try the search and check the FAQ before posting, as most of these topics are thoroughly covered already. | |||||

| oil is cheap and engine is expensive; so I would never say spending more on synthetic oil is a waste of money; it's the cheapest maintenance one can do. Exactly what @Doc said, and adding to it that newer cars you have to use synthetic oil. | |||||

| My 1998 Honda Legend, 3.5 ,(equivalent to RL Acura in the USA), 114.00 miles runs on semi-synthetic oil and has done since I acquired the car some ten years ago when it had 44,00 miles on the clock. Are there any benefits, merits or pitfalls to switching to fully-synthetic oil...? I change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles. | |||||
| Answer to: Did AT-205 destroy my car? There's oil everywhere! | 22Relevance | 12 months ago | JoyMarieHarvick | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| @imperator I apologize for not explaining it better. I have traumatic brain damage from a pedestrian accident. I already had ADHD. They say my IQ is around 85 so please bear with me. Let me try again... Before the AT-205: Arizona Bimmer originally quoted me $2730 to fix a valve cover leak ($1530) and oil filter housing ($1200). The leaks were extremely minor though so it wasn't a rush. After the AT-205 this is what the mechanic wrote: Found active oil coming from oil cooler lines. There is an active drip when the vehicle is on. Recommend replacing the oil cooler lines. Vehicle is going to need extensive oil cleanup as oil is all over front of vehicle which can be danger to the drive belt and the upper coolant hose. Vehicle still has oil leaks coming from oil cooler and valve cover and possibly the oil pan. Recommend starting with oil cooler along with the oil cooler lines and cleaning oil residue in order to properly narrow down further oil leaks. RECOMMENDATION Perform oil filter housing reseal with both oil cooler lines. Also perform oil service. Will perform oil cleanup. $1805 So I assume my bill is going to be $2730 + $1805 = $4535 Weirdly that's almost exactly what my oil leaks cost me in 2022. They charged $800 just for the oil cleanup so that's part of the expense this time too. | |||||

| Hi Scotty. I absolutely love your YouTube videos. I have an oil question for you. I've been doing my oil changes at the dealer (two so far). I change it every 5,000 miles. I asked the dealer about moving me to synthetic oil, as all the research I have done says it is better for the engine and turbo. He told me it is best to use Mazda's oil, which I think is a blend (5w30 for the turbo). They recommend synthetic for the naturally aspirated 4 cylinder without a turbo. I need your advice. I want to change, but he seems to be genuine in telling me this, as h ... | |||||

| I've got a 2005 Lexus RX 330 and had synthetic oil put in at 136 K miles 7 months ago (September). I'm at 139.5 K now but it has been a while since my last oil change. I'd appreciate a recommendation as to whether I should wait until I reach 141 K or change the oil now. I don't drive very much, but I live in Colorado (temperature extremes) and park my car outside so I'm not sure if that could cause oil contamination or oil degradation. Also, does it matter whether I change the oil with synthetic or use a conventional/synthetic blend to save some money? Toyot ... | |||||
