| Scotty, We have a 2000 Ford taurus, 3 l. engine, 72,000 miles. We recently had to have the rear springs replaced to pass state inspection, but when we drove it away from the garage, when we hit the brakes the back end makes a sound like a semi with a jake brake system, the back end vibrates, and when we get out we have a scent of burning metal. Is this a normal response with replacing the coil springs, or is there another underlying issue that caused the springs to break in the first place? Thanks for all you do! | |||||

| Ford Taurus 2003 SE gauge cluster lost power | 17Relevance | 5 years ago | AlexTN | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Howdy, I have a Ford taurus 2003 SE with 139000 miles and an automatic transmission. The other day the red battery light came on and went off. I checked the alternator and battery yesterday and both were fine, I had just replaced both about 6-7 months ago. Today on my way to work the light came back on and the speedometer stopped working and it slowly lost power and turned off. After waiting a little while it was able to be turned back on but I turned it back off as to let the battery charge so I can move it back home tomorrow. What could possibly be the iss ... | |||||

| Despite it being old as dirt, I'd go F-150 out of those. That taurus is done at that mileage and I don't touch hearses at any price, miles, anything, ever. | |||||

| i worked at a place where we had some 40 of these 2002 taurus and some of them had the exact symptom you described. The alternators charged but technically not enough AND also did not trip the warning lite that it was not charging enough. We ended up always replacing the alternator. The deal with some of the electronics dying when driving is that the alternator is not charging enough and all the electronic hardware is fighting to get voltage to keep working. One by one they die off and then the ECM quites from lack of voltage....car dies.....while the car ... | |||||

| ... three options with a private party purchase - first is an $1800 2002 ford taurus with 255k miles, but appears unusually well maintained cosmetically (have not test drove it yet or gave it the scan tool treatment), second is a $4200 1988 F150 Lariat XLT automatic with 132k miles 2wd also cosmetically nice shape, and lastly I am looking at a $2000 1990 buick hearse with 32k miles, mechanically maintained but cosmetically seen better days. Any advice on which is the better option for somebody who only cares about the mechanical and safety aspects of their car? ... | |||||

| Scotty, 2005 Ford taurus with 72k on it. It was an old lady's. Has 90k on it now. My dad is a less than stellar 'mechanic.' He's been using 10w30 fully synthetic when the manual calls for using 5w20. Should I be worried?? It doesn't use any oil (as far as I know) when I check it the level is where it was before. But since it is Pennsylvania winters I'll be driving in, will the engine wear on this heavier oil?? | |||||

| Too many miles and too many owners and too many uses. I would only consider a taurus if it was owned by an elderly and has like 50k miles in pristine shape, and then it would be worth 6 7 grand in private party, but for that listing, I would not pay more than 500 bucks, which is probably but the dealer got for it. RUN AWAY! You can get a Camry with less miles cheaper than that. GET A CAMRY if its A to B travel, plus this is V6 get a I4 camry. | |||||
| 2016 taurus cruise control | 17Relevance | 5 years ago | BeefWellington | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello, I just bought a 2016 taurus sho awd v6 turbo with 50k miles, I got it from a toyota dealer, it was a single owner trade in. The cruise control works for about the first 5 miles after starting it, and then a collision sensor block error comes up and shuts off the cruise control and won't allow me to turn it back on, the dealer checked the sensors and said one was loose, and they rest the system, but it's still doing it of course. Any ideas on what it could be? Also the climate control turn on and off on its own but I'm pretty sure that's the lower ... | |||||

I am looking at blendoor(no heat, did a pretty good flush of coolant, no really the core though. I did get out 2-3 buckets of Brown. I felt heat kinda for a few minutes after. I was thinkin' of buying a $15 blend door on amazon possibly. So, I was turning knob with car started while looking with led light at what I think is the blend door behind radio console, etc. I don't see the white post area moving. I was able to even fit a finger behind blend door ... | |||||
