| RE: Totachi ATF - Where can I buy it in the US? | 16Relevance | 3 years ago | shadetreecar | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I posted awhile back for a 2007 Equinox 3.4l. Long story short i just found out the shop used dexron vi, which is wrong atf. It must be t-iv. So i swapped it with genuine Toyota t-iv and vibration/disappeared for most part. A tech at the Toyota dealership recommended i find Totachi atf because its what Toyota uses in Japan and would resolve remaining residue caused bt dexron vi | |||||

| ... too. We have a guide on should you be changing your atf in the FAQ so check that out. One thing mentioned there is to NOT flush the transmission fluid at higher miles and age as it would be riskier. Drain+fill recommended. It seems everyone has a differenet concencus on this, but if you trust Scotty go to the atf guide and scroll down to see his videos on it. | |||||

| @hixster I'm glad that you liked it. This guy professor John Kelly is very knowledgeable and interesting. I just watched part 1 which is the intro to his atf History series and now have started on part 2. And yes, I have Toyota atf D-III and have decided to stick with it. As I mentioned to Chuck Tobias since this fluid is the original and the manufacturer's recommended replacement fluid both in the owner's manual as well as on the dipstick, and has performed without issue since the vehicle's manufacture in December of 2003, following the 30K mile replacement recommendation, I don't want to chance trying something "new and improved". ( : But I appreciate everyone's comments and advice as it provided more information for me to research and opportunity to learn. | |||||

| My 2007 Infiniti m35x tells me to use atf dexron on the pump of the reservoir. If you have power steering fluid then go ahead and use it, but you can also use the atf dexron. Just make sure the bottle has “dexron” on it. | |||||

| You can get something like Valvoline max life atf, or castrol trans max that is dexron 2 compatible. Either will likely do fine, hopefully you caught it before the transmission is having any issues. I have used valvoline max life atf in Toyotas as old as a 1999 Corolla and it worked fine. You can get a gallon of either one for about $25. | |||||
