| He beat the hell that of that car; it has 3 accidents, its the base model, and isn't powerful enough for my dad. I want him to replace it with a tougher car with more power like a gx460 or something... | |||||

| Agree with @Glen_stet. Keep taking it to the dealer and force them to fix it. That gx460 should not be making a ticking noise. If that dealer can't fix it, take it to another one. Also, if you know a trusted mechanic, have him/her check out the GX and give you some kind of report in writing. Then, take that with you to the dealer and show them. | |||||

| 1500 Miles? When the dealer tells you, "They all do that." ask them to start up another gx460 so you can listen to it. | |||||
| Engine knock when idle | 13Relevance | 5 years ago | AngLi | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello all: I have a 2021 gx460 with 1UR-FE engine. I notice when car is idle and there is a knocking noise from the engine. I don’t know if it’s normal. Car has 1500 miles. It sounds like”tick, tick, tick, tick” not very obvious but enough for me to hear it. I heard it inside of my car. Thanks | |||||

| ... believe it or not than the Sequoia); those would be the Lexus LX570 or if you can go smaller look also at the Lexus gx460. Besides the Sequoia, the Land Cruiser (probably holds value the best), and the 2 Lexus’ there is nothing else I can recommend in that class that can go 150,000+ miles relatively trouble-free. It’s becoming rare these days with newer vehicles to find that and Detroit’s Big Three are not interested in pursuing that (focused on planned obsolescence). | |||||

| Answer to: Lexus 2012 GX 460? | 13Relevance | 5 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| The gx460 is a solid vehicle, although they are gas hogs and repair costs (long term) for these V8 Lexus cars can be high. As an example, replacing a starter or knock sensor can cost a few thousand dollars due to its location on these V8s. It’s why we recommend the Lexus RX350 (with V6), but you said you needed more room. If you don’t mind and set aside some money for repairs eventually, it can be an excellent car, much more reliable and less costly than the BMW. Make sure you have an independent, honest mechanic check this car before you buy. | |||||
| Answer to: 4runner differences 2010-2020? | 13Relevance | 5 years ago | endrit15 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| If i were to get the 4runner, I would get the 2014 because that is the first year of the mid cycle refresh. If it were me, I would get the lexus equivalent: Lexus gx460 because it has the v8 engine, while the 4runner's have the v6. I would get the lexus because it has a lot more luxury and still resells for about the same price. I hope this helps. | |||||
| Answer to: One owner 4-7 year old Ford Expeditions with 250-300k miles on them a good buy? | 13Relevance | 5 years ago | endrit15 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Triton 5.4 V8 was a garbage engine as people said above. You also never know if it was highway miles because anyone could say their high mileage car was highway miles and it could have in fact had hard city miles instead. Get a toyota 4runner equivalent or a lexus gx460 if you want real reliability on a body on frame SUV. The highlander is also highly recommended by me. If you really want a ford, get the thing thoroughly checked out by a mechanic for 90 bucks because you kinda need it with that kind of mileage. Good Luck, man. | |||||
| Answer to: Should I get a 2021 VW Altas? | 13Relevance | 5 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| @TheTrellesDad, get the gas versions. For the Toyota Sequoia, get RWD - however, if you need 4WD then get that. For the Highlander, get FWD unless you need 4WD. Finally, for the Lexus gx460 it is only offered in 4WD. | |||||
| Answer to: Should I get a 2021 VW Altas? | 13Relevance | 5 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| VW quality has been going downhill for a while. Therefore, I would only get the VW Atlas under a lease and a warranty. Even under warranty, you still might find yourself taking the vehicle in for repairs more often than you like because of all the overengineered German tech. Since you are looking to keep for 10 years, I would recommend against it. Instead, look at a Toyota Sequoia, Highlander, Lexus gx460. | |||||
| Answer to: Telluride or used Lexus GX 460 | 13Relevance | 5 years ago | Whatchamacallit | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| ... of life out of it. But if you only plan to keep a few years and keep under warranty and/or lease it - it should be OK. Lots of good reviews on the SUV, but they don’t go into reliability of course. Not sure your plans for the vehicle, but if you plan on keeping long term I’d definitely go with the Lexus gx460. It’s a proven platform! Just make sure a trusted, honest mechanic checks it out first and says it’s OK if you do buy the Lexus. | |||||
