| If buying brand new, then you shouldn’t run into any major problems buying a hybrid, provided you expect to get rid of the car after 10-15 yrs with commensurate mileage. If you want your vehicle to last >20 yrs without having the hassle of a $$$ hybrid battery replacement, I’d pick the regular petrol RX350. Nobody knows what the future holds about resale values of used hybrids. Are you willing to take the gamble? | |||||

| you mentioned in recent posts about avoiding older hybrid vehicles due to battery replacement costs. What about buying a new one rx450h vs a reg gasoline version rx350. Do the savings from fuel consumption outweigh the additional purchase costs and any maintenance costs down the road? I expect that more people will switch to EV and hybrids so resale of hybrid will be better. | |||||

| Hi Scotty, love your channel and videos. I was lucky enough to buy a 2014 Lexus GS450h with 38K miles in March of 2020. This was right after the pandemic hit and nobody was buying cars. I made an inquiry about the car one time in February and the salesman was so desperate to sell cars, he dropped the price by $2500 and that sealed the deal for me since the car was already under blue book value. Oh, and they covered the shipping to my home in Texas. A year later and the dealership calls me asking if I’d be interested in selling it back at a profit! Unreal. It’s loaded except for the night vision and was always maintained by the Lexus dealer in Albuquerque. I live in San Antonio, Texas and take my cars to an independent shop and today they are recommending a BG coolant flush and treatment. In all my years of car ownership I’ve never had a coolant treatment before. They say it is phosphate free and there are no issues with compatibility. I wanted to get your opinion, is this something you’d recommend? And as far as the replacement coolant, they use Toyota compatible Durmax but said they could get Toyota coolant as well. Would love to hear your thoughts and what you’d recommend we do. It’s a wonderful car. Would love to hear your thoughts on the CVT it has. Truly a strange sensation driving compared to auto transmission of our previous car but I’m used to it now. Not sure what maintenance it requires and when. thanks, James | |||||

| Yes, but only due to the Fed forcing electric cars on the population. If you check out automakers future plans, they are shifting most of their research and development resources to electrification. The 2021 Ford Mustang 5.0 made 460hp, and the 2022 Mustang 5.0 only makes 450hp due to increased emission regulations. That is how it begins. Instead of making changes to maintain the HP rating, they opted to allow the emissions to reduce power output. It's cheaper and easier to do that. That being said, if the fed froze or slightly reduced emission require ... | |||||

| The price is a little high. Look it over with a professional mechanic and if he sees anything with the battery and electronics. Used hybrids (even Lexus's) can get pricy when they break. If anything pops up and it is related to the battery, look at something else. | |||||

| If a mechanic says it's good, why not? It's only got 80 000 km, so it should last some time, but don't expect to get a lot of km on the odometer compared to a regular Lexus RX because that's when the hybrid components start to break and they cost a fortune to fix. | |||||

| I was looking at a 2012 GS250 the other day with about 60k miles. That's another thing, should I be worried about the low mileage? By the way, I'm not considering cars that were driven in London where the traffic is so bad the average speed is about 15-20mph in stop and go traffic lol. | |||||

| I would keep looking. I question buying used Toyotas because of high repairs when they break. The used Lexus hybrid would make the matter worse. You also didn't mention price or mileage and on the GS250. I would walk away and look at something else. | |||||

| it looks like the rust is limited to that one cross-member. If it gets bad enough (ie rusting through) then you could just replace it. | |||||
