| Answer to: Buying a Nissan SUV | 18Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Why? nissan is a crappy brand that sells crappy overpriced cars. Is there any particular reason you want an unreliable SUV made by Renault/Mitsubishi? (since that’s what nissan is nowadays) The pathfinder has a horrid 9 speed developed for Fiat, the Murano only has a Jatco CVT and it has aged terrible, And the "popular" nissan model, the Rouge is not even a nissan it's a badge engineered Renualt Koleos the SUV version of the Renualt Megane - it's identical to the Mitsubishi Outlander and adding insult to injury it's a Jatco CVT. If If you want to ... | |||||
| Answer to: Nissan, Mazda or Infiniti | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | dylanb | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi David, Of all three of those cars, I would choose the Mazda. They are fairly solid cars. nissan has had build quality issues with the cars and parts in the 2000's in general. My father has had a 2007 nissan Altima with the V6, the VQ engines are fairly solid. He also currently has a 2012 nissan Frontier PRO-4X (which I use), it has a solid engine (because it is the 4.0 VQ), BUT it has had to have the bumper replaced twice and the axle replaced once. In general, their trucks are decent, but I would stay away from nissan sedans of that era (IN GENERAL). Th ... | |||||

| 2004 nissan Pathfinder SE (165,000 miles) [both engine and trans have been replaced before don’t know where/ when got it second hand from relative] . The vehicle idles okay for a little bit, but as the car warms up or when A/C is turned on the vehicle goes into “limp mode” (I put quotations cause I don’t know what to call it) , and won’t go faster than 2-3 miles per hour. The engine shakes quite a bit and hard too, kind of like a person chocking on something. Below are a list of parts that I replaced/ had replaced. 2 Camshaft solenoids (OEM) HITACHI/ NI ... | |||||
| Answer to: Nissan Or GM? | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Kerem | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Like others said above, its a model per model, but in Scotty's reliability rankings he put nissan above GM by one spot I believe. It also depends on what you want. If you are fine with 8-10 years 100k miles out of a car you could be reasonably happen with a nissan, where the biggest issue is the CVT, but in GM products, the quality is so low that anything could happen whether it would be the engine blowing up at 1500 miles or lasting until 100k miles. You also have to consider, like Scotty said, nissan CVTs have been improving (though VERY slightly) in the ... | |||||

| ... check it out before purchase to make sure it is in good shape you don't want to buy someone elses problem. If I personally had to choose I would look for the best deal lowest mileage 2011-2014 nissan Maxima I could find the Hyundai is not my style really. To check what years have the most common issues check these sites: To give you examples here is the 2012 Genesis and 2010 Maxima: I would stay away from the 2010 because of steering issues and consider a 2011-2014 and the Hyundai is just a meh either way it will fall apart after 100k mi ... | |||||
| Answer to: Mazda Cx-5 vs Nissan Rogue? | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Kerem | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Oh for sure the cx-5 the cx-5 is a better car overall the engine and transmission are pretty good it's ride is good as well and the quality is high. When it comes to reliability and quality, the 3 brands in mind would be, by order, Toyota Honda then Mazda. nissan would have transmission issues which WILL mechanically total the car by 110k miles or so. I would run away from a nissan Rogue. Plus, it is just a cheaply made French car not even that nice of a car. Small SUV picks in the 2015 2016 era is Toyota Rav4, Honda CRV, and Mazda CX-5. The top 5 WORST woul ... | |||||
| 2013 Nissan Maxima CVT and other fluid changes | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | Osi Baki | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty, I know that you are not a fan of nissan and their CVT transmission. My family has driven 6 different nissan vehicles over the past 20 years and we have never had a problem with any of them; granted we have never reached 100K miles in any of them. My 2013 Maxima is currently at 96Kmiles, I bought it used at 44Kmile in 2017 and regularly maintain the car, change the oil (full synthetic oil), oil filter, in-cabin air filter, tire rotation every 5K-7.5K miles , I even took your advice and cleaned the MAF. I have recently been thinking of and watc ... | |||||

| There was no government force needed for the transition FROM electric cars TO gasoline cars 100 years ago. Many more examples out there of natural technological progress not being forced. Additionally there are virtually no environmental benefits to electric vehicles and may even be detriments overall, but that's getting out of the topics this forum is for. Overall the push to electrification just makes no sense and will not work well for a very large number of people. | |||||

| That is how technology has evolved forever? Like you said this isn’t going to happen over night it will take decades and to be honest I don’t think it will ever transition 100% they are pushing for environmental improvements which also isn’t a bad thing. I’m not looking to buy an electric vehicle but I won’t treat them as the devil either. T government’s pushing things is life that’s like boycotting the elimination of asbestos in day to day life because of how functional it is or eliminating R12 even though it cools better? This is life and it’s someone’s perspective of extending that life wether you agree with it or not | |||||
| Answer to: Will Tesla be overthrown? | 16Relevance | 5 years ago | infinitifxfan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Ok, rn the Japanese are pretty behind in electrification, but IMO the best rn from the Japanese in terms of full EVs is nissan with the leaf (made in the US) and the upcoming Ariya SUV (they are gonna be made in Japan and nissan discontinued the Skyline Sedan in Japan so that the Ariya will take over on that line), but Toyota is slowly catching up to them with their recent launch of EV concepts and near-production electric cars. However the European brands are getting ahead and I think VW, Audi, Porsche and BMW are gonna be the first to eat Tesla's lunch (Wi ... | |||||

| The first two codes refer to O2 sensor circuit issues which have nothing to do with the transmission. The remaining codes do refer to issues with the CVT. The surprise is not that your transmission is failing but that you actually managed to get over 200K miles out of it. Usually nissan CVTs crater much sooner than that. Of course if you're lucky it might be circuitry connection problems or solenoid issues that may be repairable but you would need a transmission expert to determine that. Note that transmission problems are far and away the most common prob ... | |||||

| ... cars always do it - as it seems there's just a defect with some units but VW refuses to acknowledge that it's not "just software". - As far as the diesels, although European diesels tend to be better than their petrols - it's still an overly complex motor with lots of emissions tech strapped to it. But generally, similar to the VW DSG, Diesels also aren't for lots of city driving or for sitting in traffic jams. - The Peugeot has issues with the NOx filters, but the engine overall tends to be solid, and so is the transmission. It's not as good as PSA diesels ... | |||||

| This isn't the natural evolution of technology at its own pace, it is being forced ahead of its time. I don't see how you can say "nobodies forcing anyone" with a straight face when governments are dictating an end to new vehicles powered by fossil fuels. If that's not forcing the issue then I don't know what is. | |||||

| It’s not bribing or pushing people into that is the way the industry is going? Not saying it’s going to happen over night but it will happen. And being certified in ev vehicles they aren’t all bad the battery lives have extended greatly over the last few years and they aren’t a bad ride. I get that your not a fan and that’s you’re opinion which there is nothing wrong with, I still wouldn’t consider this whole ev vehicle a conspiracy theory like the man is out to get you. It’s not that serious | |||||
