I have a 2016 Lexus IS350 F Sport and the owner's manual states to us 0W20 oil. At my last oil change I noticed the shop used 5W30. The manual states if 0W20 isn't available it's ok to use 5W30 but to switch back at next oil change. I asked the shop and they said it's ok to use also plus they claim 5W30 is better all year around. I plan on going back to 0W20 oil at the next oil change but I want to know if there are any long term effects using 5W30. Will it damage the engine?

Lexus uses that kind of oil for a reason.. just use 0W20 so you don’t have to worry about it
Always, ALWAYS follow the owner's manual. Long term use of a different oil weight can definitely cause issues. A single change won't matter, but switch back when you can.
Stick to the manufacturer's recommendation and never change it. Also, never go back to that shop.
